I have to give my wife several warnings before she gets out of bed. "I'm leaving in 10 minutes! I'm leaving in 5 minutes! I'm leaving now!" and she doesn't get up until I'm leaving, and then goes to the bathroom. And I am expected to watch the kids until she comes downstairs. I don't get it. Do I need to start waking her up an hour early?

Because what men have to realize is that all women are Time Lords (well Time Ladies I guess) for real. Except they can't travel through time and space per se, they just warp time and space around them so that anything that should take them 2 minutes to do will take 10, anything that they did "ahead of time" will need redone, and the inevitable "I just have to use the bathroom really quickly" means you have enough time to read War and Peace and she'll insist during the half-hour (should be 15 minute) drive that she was "literally only in there for 4 minutes." There has been more than one occasion while driving with my GF when I expected to be able to watch an F-14 chase a Zero around Ford Island on Dec. 7th, 1941 and we were just going to the movies 3 miles away...
It's just how the universe works. |

My wife used to play that game, I took to just going straight outside or to the car and waiting there, so she couldn't concoct any excuses about waiting for me as I fucked around online or what not while waiting. She quit playing that game.
She's actually gotten pretty good at the punctuality thing - last event we went to we were right on time. |

This is also a struggle in my house. We can never leave early to give us extra time. We are hardly ever late but she can get ready in a hour if she needs to but if she has 3 hours to get ready, by God, she's taking all 3 hours

I'm the one that typically makes us a bit late (by design maybe, when I get there, I want things to be rolling, not stand around, making small talk, waiting on whoever to get there before the grill is lit. Plus, the last car in the drive is the first guy that gets to leave  )
