Even if he somehow did (and he doesn't, of course, unless that principle is "Trump first"), it's pretty obvious, and now openly stated that they aren't conservative ones.  However, a lot of his supporters seem to be just fine with that, or supportive of the fact.  The rest will dismiss or ignore it.

Is the demise of the Republican party such a bad thing?

If people like Trump are the ideological replacements, then yes, it's a bad thing.  The GOP has many issues, but it's the only real vehicle left for the conservative movement to be able to get anything done, politically, as tough as that's been given the dominance of the more progressive neoconservative (and apparently also Trump coalition) types.

This is what happens when you have idiots claiming to be conservative thinkers railing on Trump 24/7.
I argue that this is an example of why people like Mark Levin are ideologically smart but not practically intelligent when it comes to politics.

No he doesn't.  He uses the government to get special favours, get people evicted so he can build his businesses, openly admits to paying people off, and says he thinks the government should be involved in healthcare, housing, etc., that it should redistribute wealth (via an expanded "entitlement" system), etc.  Being a businessman does not make one a free marketer, and I doubt he could actually articulate free market principles.  Conservatism believes in the free market, not for its own sake, but because it is essential for the existence of liberty.  You can't have a truly liberal political system and have an illiberal market at the same time.

Good for him.  Fuck the Republican Party.  They are all RINOs anyway.   Telling the difference between a dem and repub, these days is like telling the difference between a person from Dallas, and a person from Ft. The GOP has never been 100% on the Right.  Neither major party has.  But it has often served as a vehicle for the Right to accomplish things, with varying degrees of success or failure.  The Democratic Party used to as well, but that had mostly ended after Coolidge's election, when both major candidates had nearly identical far-Right platforms.

The GOP is, in the end, the party used by the post-war conservative movement, and until the rise of the neoconservative movement, had been successful for a time in re-orienting the party in that direction.  The neoconservative movement then diminished conservative influence until you got Bush II in office.  The TEA Party Movement, while not entirely composed of conservatives, to be sure, plus related movements, were the backlash against years of a marginalized conservative movement.  People like Cruz getting into office in some races was the result.  Trump took advantage of the anger, found a less principled and less informed audience to whom he could play demagogue, and got to where he is today.

We're seeing the demise of the Conservative party, or even ideology. What you're seeing is the rise of the Democrats vs the Socialists. That's what we're going to see. Those are the two parties we'll be electing from here on out. If this election didn't show you that, I don't know what will. liberty and freedom at this point in our history is dead. We're on our way to communism. It's what the people crave.

The difference between a GOPe and a DNC politician hasn't been detectable by any measure when it comes to fiscal responsibility in quite some time. Lindsey Graham not being happy about the current situation is positive reinforcement.

They only want to be in power.  They don't want to change.

Why would we miss the GOP?

Every time they have the house or the senate or both. They get absolutely nothing done. Democrats pass stuff without even knowing what most of it is. Pretty obvious the Republican party just represents itself and not the American people.
