girlfriend says to just hit the cleaning rod I got with a hammer and tap that sucker out but Im wondering if I should lube it up first or what i got this bad boy shooting just the way i like it and dont want to mess up the accuracy by banging on it. Im going back to patchs from now on for sure.

Can you reach it with anything that can grab it?
Mine broke in my .50bmg, allowing me to grab the bastard with needle nose pliers - but I'm guessing you're probably dealing with a smaller bore - and less room... Not sure what the best plan of attack is - if you oil it, will it swell? Maybe a wooden dowel and a hammer - so you are sure not to hurt the bore? Burn it out?

If you have a 16in barrel isn't the other end hanging out? Maybe you have a different brand than mine, but all of mine are long enough to stick out both ends.

Well played. Anyhow, try tying the loose end on something and pulling it back out. If it breaks, then high pressure air, or a rod driven hard. |

Trying to pound it out will most likely only wedge it more firmly in place. It's gonna have to be pulled through, either in one piece or multiple.
If it's a rifle-length bore snake, one end or the other is sticking out. Drill a 3/8 or 1/2 inch hole in a piece of 2x4. Thread it over the end of the bore snake that's sticking out. Grab the end of the bore snake with pliers. Use the block of wood as a fulcrum, prying and rotating the pliers and twisting the snake up around the pliers as you go. If it's a pistol length bore snake, and neither end is sticking out, you just found out why you should not have been a cheap charlie. If it's an actual boar snake, try putting its favorite food at the end of the barrel closest to its head. That might induce it to crawl out. Capture it and post up pics: GD likes pics of unusual snakes. |

I don't use bore snakes. I'd get a wooden dowel that is just barely able to fit and pound it out. If the dowel is too small it will let the cloth get into the edges and get stuck.

1..put barrel/upper in vice
2..pour small amount of diesel/kerosene/lighter fluid in barrel 3..light on fire 4..repeat steps 1-3 as needed |
