Hardest place to test is Louisiana. Closed book test, the only thing you're allowed to bring in with you is your ID. Cameras up recording the testing session, two walls lined with one-way mirrors that may or may not have people behind them watching you. Almost makes you think they don't trust you.

Never said it was the hardest place to get licensed. Just the hardest place to take the test...

(I've passed the tests in six different states.)

Aside from the fact that I have , and know , many licensed guys that don't know shit about even their own career but love to pass on their uselessness (I mean knowledge ...)
Just cause you can read a book and take a test to get a license hold absolutely no fucking weight whatsoever.
Only thing you really need a license for , if in business for yourself , is insurance.

Ours are by the municipality, no State wide license here - that makes it plenty of fun doing work in some places! I have a Masters License in 2 spots now; Richmond was the second place. They wanted my test score; that was a LONG time ago - was finally able to come up with it (that was a real miracle). A State wide license would make life much easier!

In most states getting licensed involves a test on pertinent tax law, employment law and types of contracts then getting the right insurance and bond. Nothing about being proficient or experienced in the type of work unless it's a licensed trade like electrician ect.
