The video was awesome, but the coverage was cringeworthy.  The guys on Discovery Channel just would not shut up!  Talking over important communications, restating the obvious, and constantly cutting to people like Adam Savage in his homemade astronaut suit talking about how excited he was.  CNN was even worse, with half the lower half of screen (where speed and altitude were displayed) covered with their logo and the crawl with a constant stream of crap about the Floyd riots.

Weird too, the Discovery feed was over 10 seconds behind the CNN feed.  I guess Discovery wanted to cut away if anything bad happened.

It would be cool if they had some type of small satellite drone in the trunk that was put in orbit to video the outside of Dragon from space.

NASA App on AppleTV was great. NASA website was a joke. Heck, it's still showing a countdown to launch, even as articles about the Dragon being in orbit are posted.

Good Job SpaceX.

I know the robotic platform ship is in the ocean and the weather was cloudy and rainy, but do you think you could land in the center of the yellow bullseye next time?.  I mean sure, all parts of the rocket were inside the 10 ring and it still counts as a bullseye, but I don't want the French judge to have an excuse for deducting a half point and giving it to the Soviets.

A couple of years ago @AeroE had minimal confidence concerning SpaceX's chances of ever getting someone up there, instead speaking about Boeing's engineering experience.

I always found it an odd comment.

What if I got a number of Boeing/LM/Defense/Rocket engineers, techs and machinists with years of experience into my company?
Does it matter that my company is 87 minutes old?

Plenty of others here in the industry said SpaceX would never be able to land the first stage, and if they did, it wouldn't have any payload capacity left.  Those guy got proven wrong as well

You weren't paying attention.

MECO was around T+2:38.

The 1st-stage landing on the drone ship was around T+9:25 to T+9:30.

So it fell for basically 7-minutes.  That's an eternity when it comes to things moving this fast.

Seems like the drone ship landings are often around 8:30 (min:sec).  I will check a Cargo Dragon press kit.

CRS-20 - 8:17.  MECO:  2:18

CRS-18 - 8:23.  MECO:  2:18

CRS-17 - 8:27.   MECO:  2:17

Crew Demo-1 -  9:52  Interesting.   MECO:  2:35

Here is my guess.   The lighter Crew Dragon versus Cargo Dragon means that the Crew Dragon first stage ends up higher than during a Cargo Dragon flight.   That translates into a longer fall and hence a later landing of the first stage.

The whole thing was faked.  Did you see them show the 'I still love you' barge waiting for the 1st stage and then the camera feed cut out and the next thing you know you see the 1st stage sitting there? They probably had another barge with the 1st stage on a crane and lowered it down so we'd think it landed there.  And the 'crew cabin' video?  LOL at the CGI dragon thing 'floating' around.  We're being scammed people!!!  Wake up, America!!!!!!  The Earth is flat and only 6,000 years old.  Vaccines cause autism.  George Bush planned the whole thing!!!!!!!!

Seriously, though.... Awesome launch.

Before I logged in, I pondered how SpaceX navigated the beurocratic-technical hurdles.  I'm fairly certain I know.

I also know the reason CST-100 wasn't carrying the crew today.

My wife watched the launch, separation, and booster landing while I was sweeping the yard.  She thought it was pretty cool.

Once the management of complex engineering systems is mastered, the entire industry is available, or vulnerable depending on your perspective.

The other part is managing the customer.

A young engineer on MOP interviewed at Blue Origin and didn't do so well on the structures questions.  I prepped him before he interviewed at SpaceX; his first job out there was working on the propulsion for Dragon.  Andrew W., well done.
