WTF.....

4/17/2019 short bbl.

I still like the 16 inch version as it has the style of an original AR-18/180.

Brownells may see a lot of existing pre-orders cancelled.

It may have been wiser to fill all pre-orders THEN post the 4/17/19 short release.

So interpolation of the pic would mean its maybe 10.5 inches?

A spare AR-15 lower, I should've said.

Now I can have a retro style -180B and a modern AR-180S style.

Needs a straight charging handle.  The crank was great on the original for going over the top.

Don't work too well with a rail and optic.

They should put it on the other side.

I am really interested in one of these and I have a couple complete lowers sitting around that I do not have uppers for.

The only thing I am concerned with is that I am left handed, should I anticipate any issues with brass being ejected back into my face since there is no brass deflector?

I never had any issues with this with Mini-14's or AK's, but I pretty much cannot shoot an A1 style AR15 due to the brass getting so close to my face.

No they should not.

You people fail to understand that this is a side folder and able to be fired and CHARGED while folded.

The charger belongs on the opposite side of the folded stock.

If the charger was on the side of the folded stock the entire stock, stock angle, size of the upper would be different as well as the complete design.

The design works as is.

Go buy a SCAR if you want a side folder with the charger on the side you want it.

I’m super stoked.
Update:
Here it is with an Aero Precision lower and a Double Star stock (using an ARRB-C and no folding mechanism).  Next to a basic M&P Sport and a Valmet M76 for 5.56-goodness comparison:

https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/345674/8082DDB0-B244-4119-8387-2EF271DA4229-917312.jpg

Mating to the lower is tight(!).  Minus the stock, the length would be just a little over 26 inches.
I’m quite happy with it.  Plan is for range action this weekend, with 55 and 62 gr.
If it performs well, I fully intend to order the shorter BRN-180 and get an approved Form 1.

Older:

I have an Aero Precision lower waiting for it.  And a Tango Down BG-16 - I’ve seen a few owners of actual AR-18s say it is the closest to the grip on an AR-18.

I always wanted an AR-18, and this scratches that itch quite nicely.

Plenty of room.  The upper portion of the charging handle doesn’t go above the rail, and is not that close to the receiver.

Nice BRN-180 setup.

Nice Grip, that is what I am using.

Nice stock. I will be using a folder but you chose very well for a fixed setup. Bravo on not using a buffer tube.

Can't tell, are those Troy Battle Sights?

Real long sight radius, it should shoot extremely well with iron sights.

Its a shame you will be too stupid to use that wrong sided charging handle. Maybe you will just have to use your rifle as a wall hanger decoration since many think its just too difficult to charge. I jest of course!

Your setup would look nice with a MLOK 1 1/4 sling attachment at the end of the rail and a sling loop on the battle grip. AR-180 style.

LWRC sights - very similar to Troy’s.
I’m left-handed and shoot AKs a fair bit so the charging handle is quite natural.
Im loving the AR lower ergos - the Norgon ambi mag release has the perfect spring tension.

I did find a curved trigger guard on Brownells that should mimic the one on an -18.

I never had a problem with a regular 180, and you can 'tune' the ejection on an A1 or slick side

ONLY 1 mention of a BRN-180 received on this site.

ONLY 1 person posting videos of a BRN-180 received on Youtube.

Where are they all since they have been shipping for about 2 weeks.

I have yet to even get a shipping notice on mine.

Quantities must be very small that shipped, otherwise there would be more proof over social media.

The one and only review on the Brownells site indicates dust cover and BHO problems.

From that description, the dust cover when closed, does not drop fast enough when fired and gets hit by the charging handle.

I hope that is an isolated example. If it is not then that needs to be corrected without delay.

The BHO problem could be the customer's lower.

I did find out that minor changes have been made to the BRN-180.

I am not exactly sure what changes were made but they were minor to correct some issues.

I am also not sure if some BRN-180 were shipped without the fixes. I would guess some were.

Can you post a picture of the suppressor piston?  I'm curious how much extra venting area and how far/early in the piston travel that occurs.
