Ha.

I thought the exact thing. Of course, Deniro is 80...

Thing with entertainment...I can choose what I want to be entertained by. This one? Nah, don’t need to watch.

Felt the same. Movie itself was okay/passable.

Watching it in two parts.

First part review: Not bad, but not great. The de-aging CGI was less distracting than I thought it was going to be. Except for Deniro's eyes. That was slightly creepy. My brain also can't wrap around knowing that these guys are old as fuck but made to look younger. What really DID bother me, however, was the completely unrealistic CGI gun special effects.

It's no Goodfellas, and it's no Hoffa, but sort of a lesser mashup of the two.

I thought the supposed de-aging was a failure. It just looked like old guys in bad hair pieces with a bunch of makeup. You cannot  “de-age” voice and posture anyway.

This movie won’t age well. I am certain if I tried watching it again it would be worse.

And don’t forget to drink your Canada Dry.

It was worth the watch for me if for nothing else than the period correctness of the sets, cars, locations, right down to the napkins and hotel registration cards.
I watched more as a Scorsese fan than a deniro hater.

In spite of da Nero, we watched it. Never got boring at all. Damn good movie. Pachino was great as Hoffa.

I liked it. It wasnt any masterpiece or work of art tho. I enjoyed seeing Pesci again. I'd like to see him do some more movies.

I'm not a DeNiro fan tho. Not because of his politics, but to me hes the same guy in every role and just not a great actor.

2 things about the movie that stuck with me.

It was really sad that their lives pretty much ended rotting away in prison and after  Sheeran got out he had nothing to live for....

And the second was not knowing much about the story of Hoffa, during the whole movie I just couldnt believe that after all he saw and with his involvement doing business with the mob that he would actually think nothing was gonna happen to him. He really thought he could just ignore what they were telling him to do? I mean Sheeran was a mob guy assigned to work with him.

What, you don't believe an ass kicking delivered by a guy who can't raise his arms or move his arthritic hands?

He couldn't have stomped on an empty soda can and crushed it.  The can would have kicked his ass.  And, he's a piece of shit.

It was good. Not on the level of Goodfellas by any means, but still well worth watching. What struck me most about Deniro’s performance is that while they can make him look like he’s younger, they can’t make him move like it. There’s one scene where he’s mixing it up with someone, and it literally reminded me of the video of the two old Russian ladies fighting with their purses.

It was an hour too long.  De Niro now thinks that mumbling is great acting.  It wasn't terrible, but the hype is way overblown.  If enuf critics say it's great it must be great kinda thing.

As said already, its good not great.

Although, I disaggree about the 'not goodfellas' comments.  Its basiclly the same movie. Same ending, etc.  Its like a made for TV version of GF.

They really are too old to be doing these roles though, mostly DeNiro though. I found the young guy makeup odd looking. Not groundbreaking by any means.

Same here, I wanted it to be good.  But it’s just too long and drawn out.

Wasn’t the lounge singer toward the end Silvio from the Sopranos?

This movie is terrible imo and doesn't deserve half the hype the pundits are giving it and those calling it the best movie of the year (Joker and Ford v. Ferrari are better imo). Not sure where to start with this, but I was happy when the movie was over. It only took me 3 evenings to finally finish it. Just wasn't never grabbed by the movie, script or acting. A piss poor job overall.

Thought it was decent. Noticed a couple of things I was curious about. The first being Deniro's wife in the movie. I'm about 90% sure she was card dealer in one scene of Casino, where Pesci is losing his ass at the tables. Only two roles I've ever seen her in. Wondering if she is family or a friend of Scorsese. She held up well, 25 years later.

They should have gotten different actors. I couldn't follow the timeline that easily because I'm not familiar with the story and the de-aging wasn't great, as mentioned. It's better to have young actors wear makeup to look old than vice versa.

I don't regret watching it but I probably won't sit through it again any time soon.

I finished it up yesterday.  I agree with the above.  It was a good movie, but not great.  Its one of those you watch once, but not again movies.

The book was better, IMHO.

ETA:  I've recently read where folks who were in the know said that Frank Sheeran lied about killing Hoffa.  They said that Sally Bugs did it.

I watched it tonight and enjoyed it.  I agree they could've easily cut 45 minutes out of it with no loss.   They did a great job recreating the 60s and 70s feel to the scenes.

Movie was good.

It’s not on the same page as a movie like The Departed, which I can rewatch forever because it’s more entertaining.

I took some time to reflect on it, and I liked it. It's no Casino or Goodfellas, though it certainly tries to be. Yeah, the age of the actors is an issue for multiple reasons already stated, it's really jarring and confusing seeing DeNiro play an oblivious truck driver who is supposed to be in his (20's/30's/40's?). But I look at it more in the lens of a stage play. It is a good story, and for a film almost 4 hours long it's paced very well. If the biggest complaint is that it looks weird when DeNiro beats someone up, I don't see that as a big deal.

The actor who played Jo Hoffa was also in ‘Goodfellas’, as ‘Lois’, the drug smuggler who wouldn’t fly without her lucky hat.

Guys, it wasn't supposed to be "Goodfellas", "Casino" or "Departed". Scorsese made those already. Part of this was him realizing his own mortality. We're all getting older, we're all going to die. For what it was, it was very enjoyable.
