Green is too dark, just as Woodland was. Camo should not have the color black in it unless you're trying to conceal yourself on a volcano. Multicam is the most versatile camo pattern. |

Multicam trumps them both honestly.
I don't understand why every service needs a special camo. Seems like procurement would be more simple and there would be cost efficiencies if everyone could standardize as much as possible. Honestly, I think when it comes to camo/working uniforms all of NATO should be wearing Multicam. |

The Orientation on the Navy Pattern is vertical instead of horizontal, During the MARAPT testing the Marine Corps found vertical orientation was left effective than horizontal

When we used to do field ops in the woods I was always amazed how MARPAT disappeared, I could barely see the other Marines in the patrol.
Which was the woods at Camp Lejeune if that matters. And the coyote flaks did really well also, coyote is impressive at blending in for being a solid color. |

I think the camo the Navy started using when I got out is the best. It really helps you blend in with the water if you fall overboard.

But the technology itself works well even in green environments, so I would just rock desert all year if it was my call. Maybe in jungles the woodland does better. Multicam is possibly the best “universal” pattern IMO. I think it would do better if it was compressed a bit or kind of digitized. The color blocks are a bit big. I try my best to buy gear in FDE, coyote, etc, and multicam. You’d be surprised how far you can get just wearing a muted green shirt and khakis. |

Woodland "M81" for woods, 3 color desert "coffee stain" for desert.
Never been a fan of digicamo. Multicam is a decent substitute for woodland/et al. given it's available in desert and jungle variants. (guess what I wore  )

We had a member do extensive research on IR response to each camo pattern.
I should have saved all of it because he up and deleted it all but if I recall, usmc marpat was ranked among the highest in best all around camo for night operations. |
