I remember wanting a 2011 1911. Other than that? I’ll pass

ETA  the 1911 was my dad's.   It was stolen a few years ago and was recovered.  A drug dealer was EDCing it.

I'm far too cheap to buy something like this.  Also an early millennial.

But those guns remind me of these knives:

That would make it more valuable to me honestly. That's a hell of a backstory for a gold plated gun

It's a  damn good  shooter.   I probably wouldn't have  fired it.  But said drug dealer scratched it up.  So I figured fuck it.  I shoot all 3 off them now.

ETA  the .380 was my dad's.   Has his name, rank, and S/N on it.  The 870 was my FIL's

People buying things that aren't 100% utilitarian keep the economy going.

Won't say I wouldn't but I'm not paying extra for it

Unless it's a gold Deagle in .50AE. I'd definitely pay some extra for that

I doubt I would buy any of those guns when for what is being asked for them I could probably buy two of something else a little less flashy. I buy guns to experience them, mostly at the range, not look at them.

Someone. I have turned every commemorative gun offered for sale to me as the owners asked way more than they were worth.

Same here.

"It's a limited edition so you'll probably never see another one like it".

Commemoratives and the like are surefire way to lose money.

Yeah, my dad wasn't a gun guy at all. But he once was going to buy a Virginia Military Institute PPK (I think), and wanted to know what I thought about it.
"Uh, yeah, it's kinda cool, but you'll never shoot it, and the only people who might want it are other VMI alumni. I'd pass."

Didn't get into the "what the hell connection is there between VMI and a PPK" thing, but he never bought it.

I did buy a commemorative pistol, but nothing like the gaudy crap. The 100 anniversary Colt (ANVIII)

No way I was gonna do the embellished version II.

At least it's a Colt.  They used to use the old POS Auto-Ordnance 1911's to embellish

A long-time friend recently gifted me one of those WW1 commemoratives, still NIB. It had the light-colored grips with medallions, which I have replaced with standard double-diamond grips.

I would like that stainless lever gun.

Strip the crappy wood off of it, put something more suitable on it. Don't know how to get that junk off the receiver.

Strange, they could probably sell the hell out of a plain jane (no offense!) version of that gun at ridiculous prices as it is.

A few years ago a shitload of "commemorative" Winchester 94s hit the Swedish market. I guess a collector or dealer sold off his collection.

They all went for incredibly low prices, much cheaper than standard pricing. My buddy bought a John Wayne commemorative 94 for about 70 USD and used it as his deer rifle.

So much for collectibility

Why wouldn't you shoot them? They're not like actual investment pieces that will appreciate in value over time. I'd modify the hell out of one and then shoot it
