I do. Hacker pschorr marzen is one of my favorites this time of year.
Hot summer days are made for weissebier, again, Hacker pschorr or Francizkaner is my go tos.

But, the value of $1.10 a beer or under $7 for a six pack of sam adams oktoberfest, can not be denied.
Should I have made a new thread about it? Maybe, but im lazy, so I piggy backed German/ Oktoberfest beer thread.

Gotcha, just making sure you've experienced the real stuff.

I don't drink a ton of beer so I don't care about the price or buy in bulk. It is a pain to have to go to the liquor store to get my Paulaner, but I saw my grocery store had an oktoberfest section up last week...

Augustiner Edelstoff was a beer I wish I could find over here.

Not really faithful to the Marzen recipe, but a decent enough beer.

Having this tonight...

Not my favorite, but it holds a special place in my heart since we were at their pub last year in Munich...

Also have some Ayinger sitting around (which is my favorite marzen), but haven't been able to find any Paulaner.

5.0 Original.  They just called it "The Black" over at Wacken Open Air.  It was a cheaper German lager for drinking by the liter.

Total's got some neat ones for sure.  I was similarly stunned when I saw they had Radeburger Pils.  Absolutely delicious, even if you're not sitting by the Elbe in Dresden.  Veltins Pilsner is also well worth your time.

Hard to beat Ayinger come October though.  I am going to try and find that different one from Schneider-Weisse.  Love Aventinus, and the Eisbock they make from it.

I went a few years back for Oktoberfest. Wasn't a bad trip, but definitely a tourist trap. Lots of good beer and German food. I will say I do not feel the desire to go back, but I am not mad that I went if that makes sense.

this place has phenomenal ambience. It's one of my favorite breweries in the area.  They have another location about 20 minutes north of me that has a better menu for food.

Right on time for this thread. Wife's friend brought these to give to me from the Alstadt brewery in Fredericksburg, Tx . She brought me a whole sampler. Most of them are pretty weak for my liking, but I won't turn down free beer. Strongest is only 5.8%.

The big six Oktoberfest beers.

Augustiner
Hacker-Pschor
Löwenbräu
Paulaner
Spaten
Hofbräuhaus

Of those I have yet to find Löwenbräu. Maybe this year I’ll get lucky.

I actually stayed at the Ayinger brewery's hotel. Self serve beer on tap in the library, billing was via honor code (you had a card in your room, you tallied each beer)
The Gasthaus was very nice, great food, and I got to sit and talk with Bob Gore (inventor of GoreTex) for a few hours over beers.

On beer advocate, lowenbrau oktoberfest, is listed as a festbier with abv 6.1.
Which marzens are usually higher abv than festbiers , kinda odd.

So far the only ones I've found if the big 6 have been Hacker Pschorr, Paulaner, and Hofbrauhaus.  I'll keep looking until Oktoberfests are done for the year here.

I made my first Oktoberfest beer run. Only managed to get 5 out of the big six. No Lowenbrau to be found. Locally a couple of U.S. beers can be had easily so I don’t put them on my shopping list. I have a few more places to try next week.

Edit - After a little searching, it seems that Lowenbrau is no longer sold in America.

They also had Spaten Oktoberfest Ur Marzen in stock but I held off on it because the label clearly stated "Malt Liquor", and I could not find a statement about it DE purity law on it. Not saying it's bad or not good, legit beer, but that caused me to have pause on it for now. Don't fight me bro!

I'm personally also a fan of Warsteiner Oktoberfest, but they only had it in cans, and I just can't. But I'm hoping they get bottles of that soon too. It's not rated very high, but I really enjoy it cause IMHO it drinks more like a Hefe Weizen that has a little Marzen vibe added at the end.

I finally found some Paulaner in the store (which I am currently enjoying), so I have my 3 favorites to enjoy.

I bought 2 of the HB steins in Munich, one for my brother and I.  I haven't used it stateside so maybe in the next week or so I will.  I think it holds like 3 beers and they're hefty.  You can clank them together pretty hard.

Stopped by the local Costco and they didn't have the usual cases of Paulaner Oktoberfest, but they had their variety packs.   They also had cases of Hacker Pschorr.  Haven't had the HP before, hopefully it's good as I now have a case of it along with the Paulaner.
