I first wore a 1911A1 on my hip about about 37 years ago.
I was a 60 gunner.

And I shamefully admit I have never had my own true 1911.
I don’t have any 2011s or 2011 style 45s either.

I do have a handful of the first double stack 1911s.
From Canada, like one set of my grandparents.

A properly smithed and previous jam-o-matic Colt:

Same as above:

This is a completely unmodified Kimber Custom Target, released prior to the availability of stainless controls, just to get a stainless model on the market.  It has been around a while.  I took it out of the box at the gun counter and walked out to the range and fired a flawless IDPA match with it.  I have used it in several matches and it has been 100%, which I can't say for any other make of 1911 that I have owned.

A Franken-45 I put together with a RI double stack frame.
First effort and didn't require much finessing. Never had a FTF or malfunction.

Nothing classier than a well used 1911. Any idea how
Many rounds you have through it?

I carried a Sig STX for several years and put close to 15,000 rounds through it.  Great production gun.   However once you try a full custom 1911, nothing else compares

If you don't have an arched mainspring housing and a lanyard ring, you're missing out on half the experience.

The blue one is a Colt in .38 Super, the park'd one is an Ithaca frame Remington Rand slide M1911A1 from CMP.

I need a 10mm.  I can't afford one, but I want one.

60-70,000 rounds looking at my reloading log.

It has been through 3 or 4 extractors (15,000 round lifespan give or take), and went back to Springfield about 6 months ago as the trigger was acting weird. They put a new edge on the sear and sent it back. Amazingly all the small parts aside from the extractors and springs are original.

I prefer the arched MSH myself, and replaced the flat one on my Colt Competition Series with an arched S&A mag guide. I should have gotten the lanyard ring one.

I do at least have that combo on my '44 Colt.

This gun is nothing special on its own. Basic RIA .45 Commander.  What is special is that it was one of the last gifts I gave my father. A 1911 was one of his grail guns. Too cheap to even buy a budget one for himself. 6 months later he was diagnosed w cancer. He got to shoot it once before getting too sick.  Once he passed I got it back with the rest of his collection.

I couldn’t resist the 100th anniversary. I expect it will be the only 1911 I ever own. Don’t hate shooting it, but two mags and I’m good.
