Yeah, I was pretty bummed when they deactivated 4th Batt.   I thought they'd keep that one active since we made the jump.   Oh well.  Maybe someday they'll bring them back.

Whats the star mean?

I submit the most irrelevant post  - being a foreign devil and all .  Here are the unit patches I've worn:

Center patch is the regimental crest of the Royal Guard, with the motto "Pro Rege et Grege" (For Monarch and People)

Top left is the first company I served in, as a recruit - the 3rd staff company (2nd training battalion)
Top right and bottom right are the two companies I served in later, both as a sergeant and as a lieutenant - 3rd and 4th Infantry companies (3rd training battalion).  I spend most of time in-regiment in these two companies.
Bottom left is a company I only briefly served in - 5th staff company (1st battalion).  But it's kind of special to me, since the 1st battalion is the "original" battalion of the regiment, that has been in continual operation since it was formed in 1658.

But subject to change once we link up in Iraq with our higherups.  Lots of talk about who we're going to be under, some rumors are the 5th Army, some say the 18th Airborne Corps, and some say the 4th ID possibly.

I don't think "sucks" is a harsh enough description for that place lol. The guys in 501st had it easy as hell tthere though when all they had was the detachment running the listening post. I remember when the rest of the battalion moved in some people looked mighty unhappy at their new home lol.
