why the hell would you get your stripes in ink?

why the hell not?
i knew that was gonna be my last rank

if you were still in the Marines, and you had that Sgt stripes tattoo and wore a tank top on a Marine base, would they approve of something like that? it doesnt seem appropriate if it was visible on a Marine base?

Tank tops are not authorized wear for Marines, so that scenario would not have happened.

true, I wouldn't have been wearing a tank top

to kind of answer dienbienphu's question the tattoo would have been ok, i got it before i got out and my command knew i had it.

the only way i would've gotten in trouble was if it was above the neckline or below the wrist.  or, if it was something 'offensive'

thanks fellas, i've had a lot of friends and clients beg me to get back into tattooing...usually every friggin day...i put my irons down in 2005, got a kickass job in the USA's biggest steel mill and haven't looked back since. I lost a lot of money tattooing, traveled a lot, lost a marriage and child and suddenly began to realize just how bad it was....i still do art, commissioned paintings, that's it...oh, and custom bike stuff...when i have time

lol It's more like "I'll pay $50 for this 6 inch portrait, I don't care that it'll take 2 hours" that causes a problem instead of someone offering 2 bills an hour

no, lowballers, his hourly is rather reasonable...lowballers, cheapskate punk kids, druggies...it's a harsh lifestyle and i was headed down a bad road. Tattooing is feast or famine, you are either tattooing or you aren't, and when you aren't you aren't getting paid...slow seasons, 9-11, bad weather, summer break, back to school....it's not all glory, imagine tattooing a 400lb woman who hasn't bathed in 2-3 days, has cheese under her skin tags and want's a butterfly on her "very close" vein ridden cankle, the smell wafting from her pudgy little pig feet is a combo of wet dog, moldy carpet and muenster cheese...not all glory, not some made up sensationalized hollywood star job like it's portrayed as on TV (zombie maker)

Exactly. I have one tattoo on me that I don't want redone. I'm happy with each premise (save one) it's the quality of each peice that annoys me.

I've picked out an internationally known artist named Chris Thomas at Golden Lotus tattoos in central AR to do the fixing and my work from now on. He's an insanely good artist, and a gun nut. He'll be doing the work, and after that I'll be asking what I owe him, he'll get that plus a nice tip because that's how you do it with a real artist.

You also listen to them when they suggest ideas for your tattoo because they know their shit.

Great tattoos everyone.  Really.  The quality of design and workmanship really increased after ink went mainstream and everyone and his brother got multiple inks.

The bad old days of unique hard core underground tattoos is definitly over for ever.

That was a Nordic theme way before it was ever a White Power theme. Just because a symbol has been adopted by someone or some  group does not infer that all who would display the symbol subscribe to that philosophy.

The swastika is used by Buddhists, Hindus, and American Indians among others. I'm not going to get one tattooed on my skin either.

I have a few, all with the grey/black theme and all by the same artist. They all mean something to me and have not affected my career decisions even though two are very visible. I got them all while performing my duty's for the Marine Corp. My MOS involved alot of time alone with one/couple of other's. My last tour  in the sandbox put me with a younger marine who's life outside service was tattoo's. I'd never had one but had wanted one eventually. He kindly did these for free

This is on my right front forearm. One shot, One kill. I always prayed for those that my job introduced me to.

She's on my left rear forearm watching my back.

This is my left shoulder. It is not finished. Last few month's got crazy and I was sent stateside before it could be completed. It is a symbolic image of angel that has both a set of heavenly wings and a set of demonic wings but the demonic wings need to be filled in (black) Kinda representative of dual personalitys. Hopeing to get this one finished this year but it's already been on hold since late 03'.

Sorry about the crappy cell pics

This is the combination of a bunch of tats I had gotten. The arm band used to be grey and whit and the Iron Cross has been gone over four times I think.

The bullet says "Your Name" on it.

Iv'e got other but would need to get pics of them.

Photoshop. Also, have you ever seen a cell phone camera with that kind of resolution?
