I like the taller mount.  I wish I would've gotten one of those instead of the SPR-EER.

I have a NP-R2 reticle that has served me well. If I were to buy another today I'd go with the MOAR.

Not the OP, but is that a retired model? I don't see it listed in the reticle choices on NF's site.

I've never done long range so I'd probably make myself learn mil.

At this point, I'm neither.  Other than my ACOG, this will be my first scoped rifle.  So I'm starting from a clean slate.

Sweet rifle!! Mount doesn't make the scope too high?? Looks like you'd get a solid chin-weld

The chin weld statements always get to me.  I guess I have a weird face or something.  For me, the height of a stock sight is just a tad bit low.  I feel like I'm really jamming my face onto the stock.  I must have lower cheek bones or something.  It's unnatural to me.  Any other rifle I have does not put my face as tight to the stock as an AR.  I think an ACOG in a carry handle is a good set up.  Or basically somehwere in between stock height and that, would be ideal.

Furthermore, I don't see how any of the gys in the military don't have issues getting their faces down low enough if they have chin straps on.  But everyone's face is different.

This set up seems like it would be ideal, and I bet it's very close to the height of StealthGuys larue mount.  I've shot some decent groups with a carry handle scope and normal scopes mounted on a carry handle.  The latter does get a little bit high, and I understand that you want a repeatable and tight fit.  But as I said, the stock height seems too low for me.

I like it a lot.  It's no different than any other high/tall scope mounts or rings.

Hell yea. When it comes to precision shooting, I need that tight cheek to stock weld, but when shooting faster, or Combat shooting, I feel having a little more wiggle room will put you on target faster. My block 1.5 with SOPMOD and an Eotech 553 puts me right in the line of sight fast from low ready, but when I go to make a solid cheek weld with it, I'm staring at the buttons. Never realized that till now

I think learning mils is the best choice if starting from scratch. Others may disagree, but the numbers are easier for me at least.
If I were buying a NF 2.5-10x32, I would go with this one personally.

Glad to hear that because that's exactly the unit I'm hoping to get.

Still stumbling over that price compared to the Vortex though...

Yeah, I'm not sure you will get double performance for double the price..
I don't own any Nightforce scopes, but a buddy of mine has two, and they are nice for sure. No option for FFP in their 2.5-10, which is something you can get in the Vortex PST. (I have a FFP PST in 4-16x which has been great.)
Not really important if you aren't ranging or correcting shots on powers other than 10x I suppose, but I like the option.

I try and buy used. Keep an eye on the EE and other forum for sale threads and you'll score what you are looking for. Then if you decide to dump it you are out minimal coin.

SPRECCE upper went to a KISS middy setup with a MOE HG and YHM flip site and a TRS-25.

this is a totally new pieced together MK12 upper I just assembled today. I did keep my SLR adj gas block tho as it is sooo much nicer to have a tuned system. I am building this into a spec clone, but this is what I will start with. I will be using my Mark AR  3-9 optic until I can afford a MK4 scope and then an AEM5 can. BIG changes!!

You probably know this, but maybe not...  It's  a special Mk12 called a Holland that uses a mid gas 16".  It was an Army build and it fits in the recce's AND Mk12's.   Fits in with the recces because it's a 16" mid.    And it's sweeeeeeeet.

AY!!! Go back to the mk12 thread where you belong!!! Your kind ain't welcome round these parts

You probably know this, but maybe not...  It's  a special Mk12 called a Holland that uses a mid gas 16".  It was an Army build and it fits in the recce's AND Mk12's.   Fits in with the recces because it's a 16" mid.    And it's sweeeeeeeet.

Lol, Davey's just trying to keep him from crowding his Navy style Recce mojo. Mod Holland best Recce4Lyfe

AAAAAAAAh.  Well the "Navy" Recce's seem to be a bit more of a......   ghost.....  Now I have to go back and look at all the pics to actually see what real deal recces were actually Navy guys carrying them.  The whole recce thing is a lot less specific in nature than the Mk12 and Mk18...  At least from what I can tell.

Navy pic dump.

God I honestly miss Patriot_Man's recce...

His was the honest to God closest clone of the SEAL recce rifle (Dam Neck Special as it was called!!!)

My recce has been without glass for far too long... Since I sold the 2.5-10x42 NF

Got a lil sidetracked with a M4A1 Block 1.5 (PR) clone, and a couple pistols...

I'll be back though!!!

Having the roughest toughest time figuring whether I want to go with what I planned (Vortex PST 2.5-10x32)

Or....

A Vortex PST 1-4x

A Vortex Strike-eagle 1-6x

Maybe a Leupold VXR patrol 3-9x,

Perhaps a SWFA 3-9x

Already ordered/got an LT-104 mount...

Orrrrr... And this is what I really need to do!!!

I can go glass-less, and ignore this rifle in the back of my closet for a few more months... (Have several others, of course!)

And put what I've always wanted on it...

Leupold Mk6 3-18x44

Here's some OG shit...

It's a Wilcox Industries mount for a Nightforce ring.

patriot_man had that setup on his recce.

Those are NF rings, not a unimount, and I believe the top ring/t1 mount is Wilcox.
