I have a vortex viper PS-T 6-24x50 ebr-1 scope on the way, so all that's left is to get some mk262 and throw some rounds down range (and get an AEM5)! I keep going back and forth between the "natural" look on the FF tube and the barrel, but I think I like it as it is...for now..

There's been a lot of "good enough" recently.

Meanwhile, I've been rebuilding the Mod 1 in what I've dubbed "Operation Perfection". Just got a HCS Douglas after about a 2 month wait. This thing will be as perfect as I can make it without a third pin. Final piece will be the reprofiled lower.

What do you guys think? Hydramatic or Colt markings?

You might be able to have a small circle laser or cnc engraved where the third pin would be?  Also,  I'd go with Colt.

Good enough is not using a colt upper, other things are just not a mk12.

Time to unfuck this fuckery with pic dump

It's about 3-4 weeks past the expected release date.  It's totally different than the one you are referring to and was a new 'retro' sight block coming from PRI that was more in-line with the original.

If you etch an 80% lower like I did, the stencil comes with a "3rd pin" hole that you can etch in to appear correct. I agree with the close enough stuff when it comes to someone building a random spr style rifle with some keymod rail and vortex scope and other franken parts that somehow magically equates to a mk12. It gets annoying even in the EE when someone does that shit. I always look only to be irritated with what they actually have.

Found a great article below on the Mk12 production and found this part interesting. Looks like they had a prototype flash can to thread over the break and reduce flash and concussion. Is there anything out there offered that fills this role? I like a brake but it always sucks for my buddies shooting next to me.

http://www.sadefensejournal.com/wp/?p=3386

Closest thing I found is by spikes tactical, any other options to reduce concussion on the brake?

Smith Enterprises used to have a Vortex flash hider that had outside threads on it to accept the OPS inc. can.

I'm about to mount my Smith Enterprises Flash hider for my AEM5 and I have a question.

Crush washer or nah?

I tried to use the ops threaded flash hider for a rifle (I got it from ADCO not sure if its the same as yours).

I broke two of them trying to tighten them against a crush washer. So I'd say nah.

oh are we doing pelican case photo dumps in here now?

Trigger warning: still not an AEM5, and I run my custom MRDS mount. The rest is good to go.

-Upside: period correct MOD 0 style case and foam. My spare bring back pelican case sticker with my FOB address from Baghdad is on the priority slip so that makes for some cool factor there ;)

I mocked one up using an RMR, but I'm not sure I'll keep it. The RMR is awkward to use since it's so high up.

Jason Falla has recently helped develop a 'head's up' red dot mount designed to prevent having to drop your head down during snap shooting. Supposed to save a tenth or maybe more of a second so there's some validity to that setup!

Do I roughed out MK12 fake can today. Made the decision to thread it a little longer to allow for the different shoulders on the many barrels out there.

The fake can is 1lb  2.3oz and its 8.600 in length.

The real one that I own is 1lb 5.5oz and it's 8.870 in length.

I made a booboo on the face and decided to just go with it.

I really did this for guys who want one that can be shot from.
