Mine never came with a wrench, I had to buy the old style wrench. Once I moved the rail to my block II build, I had lost that wrench and had to buy the new style wrench. Now that I no longer have any of my uppers with RIS II uppers I know exactly where both of my DD wrenches are, go figure.

Based on what little information I have - this is a mockup that I've made of what they might look like - though I would suspect with much more spray paint.
I dunno, it just "feels" right. Still haven't seen one in photographs, though. The ARMS #40L is available in the system, you see them once in a while, though they're not the most common sight out there. Don't think I've ever seen one on a "real" Block II, but then again, a good number of them appear to have no BUIS at all. ~Augee |

As for the GPS on the buttstock / Foretrex series GPS - understand that I wouldn't call it my "primary" GPS. The Foretrex, while an awesome little unit does not have a whole lot of features. If you only had one type of GPS device, I would not recommend it be a Foretrex. Personally I just hate having crap on my wrists. I can barely wear a watch, and I'm very picky about that watch being low profile, small face, analog only, no other functions, no rubber, leather or fabric band, small face. Actually, the best watches for me are the cheap leather band Timex's that you can get at AAFES for $6.99. A GPS on my wrist? Oh god, shoot me now. The TTP for using the buttstock pouch to me is conjunction with a PLGR or other larger GPS that spends time in a pouch. The "hands free" GPS lets you spot check your position, gives you a "breadcrumb trail" when patrolling, sling your rifle in front of you while you're writing down a grid on a pad where you can read off all ten digits without having to check and re-check a larger GPS unit. Basically any time you need to pull a quick grid reference on, you just glance down at the Foretrex. Worst case scenario when you're doing a MEDEVAC, the grid is right there, your hands will be busy enough without having to pull a GPS out of a pouch or look at a PLGR, or make someone run to the truck to pull a grid off the FBCB2. ~Augee Decided that I was going to do this. what did most of you guys do with your uppers? build them yourself, order a midlength from BCM, or send parts to a builder?
i want simplicity which would say get it from BCM as one of their complete uppers, but part of me still wants either the regular or socom m4 barrel with carbine gas, which would mean i would have to buy all the parts seperate and ship it to someone like adco, but its a few hundred dollars more expensive when all said and done. damn ive been in this thread for so long, mark my words, one day, ONE day i will have a block II upper. probably around the time all of you are working on your 3.5 builds. |

what did most of you guys do with your uppers? build them yourself, order a midlength from BCM, or send parts to a builder? i want simplicity which would say get it from BCM as one of their complete uppers, but part of me still wants either the regular or socom m4 barrel with carbine gas, which would mean i would have to buy all the parts seperate and ship it to someone like adco, but its a few hundred dollars more expensive when all said and done. damn ive been in this thread for so long, mark my words, one day, ONE day i will have a block II upper. probably around the time all of you are working on your 3.5 builds. Built mine myself can you give a parts list of what you bought? im trying to figure out the most cost effective way of getting the setup i want |

If and when they go to Block III, I'll be too bankrupt to build one anyway... I know the idea of a Block III gets tossed around in our little thread quite a bit but I don't see it happening. With war winding down and budgets getting cut, an upgrade to an already GREAT equipment kit is not going to happen. I think we'll be up to speed with our Block II's for quite a while it may be 10 years down the road but i may still not have a block ii done by then

I build myself from some level or another. either from stripped upper up or getting a factory type upper and pulling/replacing parts. What I think is going to be my PR rifle is a 6920 upper, and my block 2 is going to be one of the tan anodized 6920 uppers. Marked "M4 Carbine". Wish I could have grabbed one of the M4A1 roll marks though.
