The navicular bone is sort of like the keystone of the ankle.  Between it, the talus, and the calcaneus (heel), you have the entire connection for the front of the foot to the leg...  So yeah, it's a bad bone to break. Glad you got it fixed.

But you didn't answer a previous question: did you break it by dropping an ammo can on it?

I have more components than loaded rounds at the moment - no time to load, or to shoot for that matter.

But I fully endorse the "don't fill a 20mm can with" concept.  Heck, a 50 cal can full of 9mm is enough to make you wonder about your back's relationship with the rest of your body...

When I started to accumulate enough ammo that I needed some sort of organization I broke down my cases of 45ACP and started filling fat 50's. When I got done and went to move the cans I realized I made a bad mistake.

no, dont remember injuring it. just remember the pain gradually getting worse in my ankle. right now my foot is swelled up pretty bad, but i can barely move the ankle and i feel NO PAIN in the joint. its a wonderful feeling to have.

i had a 50 can full of 9mm. it had to have weighed in at about 60 pounds. couldn't have been less. sold it for 250 per k to a friend so i didnt have to lift it

A 50 can filled with 22lr is no joke either. Also learned the hard way.
Link Posted: 8/23/2020 12:36:16 PM EDT

Yep.  Just cause it fits doesn't make it a good idea.  My limit is 2k 9mm or 45acp.  I don't find it convenient trying to lift any more than that.  I'll be in 2 cases in a can and call it good.

2k is probably too much.  But it's a nice round number.
Just in projectile weight, 2000 230gr projectiles is 65lb.
And 2k 147gr projectiles is 41lb. And 115gr come up to 32lb.  I don't need to know the weight of the powder, brass, and primers to know it's heavy enough that I don't really want to be moving it.

I always limit loose handgun ammo to .30 cans.  That helps keep it from getting too heavy.

223/556 around 10,000
9mm around 6000
22 around 22,000
308 around 3000
762x39 around 3000

I guess that's not too surprising. That is about 89 of those 14k round drums that come 4 to a pallet. 22 pallets. about $400k in ammo inventory assuming a $4.5k per barrel cost.

For him it's an essential business requirement. If there isn't ammo, there is no business.

I am an ammo noob compared to most but had enough to keep me shooting during the shortage/price increases.

My .22 stash made it to 27k and is down to 24k and drops 400 round each week.

I’m holding off buying  9mm and 5.56 sitting at 4K-9mm and 5k-5.56 currently

The days of buy it cheap and stack deep are gone.
Like when 9MM WWB was $10/100 most places ie wally world
Like when 223/Win 3131A was about $150/K ie Galyan's.
Or surplus SA 223 was 11cpr in 2700rd crate at Sportsman's Guide.

Dude - if I had only 10,000 rounds on hand, do you really think I'd burn through a WHOLE 1000 rounds in ONE YEAR? No wai!

You're an ammo whore if you don't shoot because you might deplete your stash.
You're an ammo whore if you don't shoot because your stash might be reduced to a non-integer multiple of 1000 rounds.

You're an ammo whore if you periodically take inventory of your childrenstash ammo and feel a deep sense of satisfaction that it's all there - followed by a feeling of severe inadequacy.

The list could surely be longer....
