I am in need of a chest rig (open to suggestions for other options) so I can have 3-4 mags for carbine classes and fun in the woods.
This will be for AK74 mags. I am looking at the Eagle AK chest rig, the OSOE micro rig, and a bulgy shoulder bag/mag pouch. Can 74 mags fit in the open top AR mag carriers? Anything I need to look into? My budget is $100 or less. I would get a chicom chest rig and call it a day, but I can't find em anywhere. What does the hive suggest? |
|
I too am in need of one. I want a load out of 6-8 mags no more. Probably closer to 6, with some other pouches for a compass and other small gear. Of course need to be like Rambo and be able to attach my kabar to the rig. Any help would be appreciated. sorry, not trying to hijack, just jumping on your wagon for a few

Saw these the other day when I was looking for the same thing ... :)
SKD Eagle Rig Chinese Chicom Tactical Tailor Hope that helps |

For the money the Tactical Tailor AK Chest Rig is the best bang for the buck IMO. It's a copy of the one they made for the Iraq SF.

Anyone ordered from Flecktarn before? That is what I first wanted, simple and no frills. |

it's the same thing centerfire had for $10. i got one from centerfire. it's based off the chicom design. longer straps, durable material. worth every bit of $20. i have a chicom chestrig also, i prefer the centerfire/copes version. hell, they are both made in china anyways..... |

Check out these guys. You'd have to find a dealer near you as the site only caters to dealers, but I bet you will find something well under $100.00.

I'm getting a South African Pattern M83 chest rig to run with my 74 mags............ Surplus chest harness in nutria brown... used in the Angola/SWA bush wars.........Simple rig... works, proven to work, and I'm not out of a lot of money for a rig that will probably not ever get used except for the occasional carbine class.

For $84.50 you could buy a tan Tactical Tailor Mini MAV and 3 tan AK mag pouches that each hold two magazines. Most of the pouches I ran my last tour in Iraq were made by Tactical Tailor and I had zero issues.

Quoted: I've gotten alot of good practice out of my lifchik combat vest, it's a no frills 3 mag chest rig with a few grenade pouches and the ability to add a 10 cell VOG25 grenade belt if that's your thing. You could probably put small items in the grenade pouches. They run less than a hundred usually and are simple canvas construction, but durable. You can double stack mags but they are tight. http://www.rusmilitary.com/images/afghan_chestrig.jpg I'm looking at the KS-12 Polish assault vest at the moment and trying to decide it it's worth the $150+ Z I second your thoughts on the Polish vest also Zen. I was thinking this: http://www.opsgear.com/index/page/product/product_id/1815/category_id/210/category_chain/62,210/product_name/Special+Operations+Load+Bearing+Vest or maybe this one: http://www.opsgear.com/index/page/product/product_id/1819/category_id/210/category_chain/62,210/product_name/TAC+FORCE+Commando+Tactical+Vest but I really want one specifically made for the 47 or 74. |

If I could find a source for the KS-12 I'd probably be on it, it's had my eye for a while now but I wasn't done just yet with the lifchik. The two you posted look good but I wonder how tough they are...seems like everyone and their brother makes tac gear now and it's hard for me to tell what's good and what's not, so I tend to be leery of anything I haven't heard of. The design looks function and I like the second one in particular (mainly because of the backstraps, looks like solid, no slip fit) and maybe a bit better placement of the pockets on the front. I'm not sure, but is the TacForce shoulder straps secured by Velcro? That would be a no go for me, but otherwise it's looking interesting. I really like the M32...thats some tight shat there for sure. Not as big a fan of the M23 because it looks like a modest improvement over the lifchik, neat but not a big enough difference IMO for me to make the jump. Z |

I must be the only one with an Arktis. Right off Ebay. I can hold 8 30 rounders snug in the mag pockets and have two side pockets for knife, compass, flashlight etc. Price $69.99-$79.99. Depends on what digital camo you want.

Well crap, I guess I'm on the hunt for a new rig now. Thanks for stirring it up with this thread Fin
I found this and thought it might be a good candidate, Fin you mentioned in PM that you're looking for something modular, so maybe take a look and see what you think. Looks like 4 5.45 AK mags should be fine and this suits more of what I'm after, an open top/no flap design. Anyone have any information on Viking Tactical? http://www.optactical.com/vitamochrig.html My preference at the moment is to have a cross draw holster on the front, something that the KS-12 doesn't really have. The KS-12 has an internal pocket/pouch for the pistol which probably wouldn't be so hot for transitions. I'm thinking of the HSGI holster, or possibly an angled one Anyway, something else to think of Fin Z |
