The pistol mags are at about the 1 o'clock - 1:30 position. I used to have Double Decker Tacos on my support side and found myself grabbing pistol mags when I wanted rifle mags or vice versa when I'd do reload under a timer. My solution was to move the pistol mags to the holster side.

Nice. I had been looking at a 5.11 Tactical pouch that is similar but the reviews were not encouraging lol.

I almost bought one of those 5.11 IFAKs for a SMG specific chest rig but the reviews scared me away from it. If I could score one for under $20 I'd buy it just to compare it to the CTOMS.

Does anyone run anything like this or does anyone have an issue with this set up?  Basically, my belt is 2 stages.  Depending on the situation, I can either just take the belt or take the belt and leg rig.

With the leg rig being padded, they stick out just a little bit. I can easily remove the magazines without the belt pouches getting in the way. I haven't received my AR15 Taco to put on the belt but I don't see it getting in the way either.

Is there an issue that I'm not seeing yet?  I realize the common downsides to running a leg rig.  Going prone, running, etc...

I realize I'm a mall ninja and need a sandwhich btw)

I have no idea why I would need that many pistol mags.  If you want them carry them in a backpack attached to your armor or something.  You should add more AR mags instead.

I agree, and sub loads are stupid.  Try going for a run and then realize that they suck.

Yeah, I'm totally aware of the negatives of subloads and that's an honest criticism.  This one is particularly high though.  It hardly feels like a subload tbh. Point taken though.

Same with the AR Mags.  I have tacos on the way.

What's your goal with this set up? Wear it loaded for a while. In rain, in mud, in the heat, in the snow. Run with it. Crawl with it. Get in strange positions. You'll learn to hate it on your leg. Echo the other user about the pistol mags. You have a rifle mag so that's your primary. It all goes back to your goal but in a real life situation if you're wearing that get up a rifle should be around.

Edit- been covered. That'll teach me to leave a thread open.

Like I said, I have more AR15 magazine pouches coming.  I should have clarified.  This configuration is in no way the final configuration.  The pistol to rifle ratio isn't going to stay the same.  I was more asking if anyone who does run a leg rig, has ever tried stacking pouches on top of one another like I had pictured.   I'm not invested in the leg rig idea but it's something I want to try out for a while.

Thanks for the input.

Just get some nylon strapping (tubular is more comfortable), some tri-glides and some buckles.  You wouldn't even have to sew anything.

Equipment Review (Tactical Pistol 1 with Tactical Firearms Academy)

I used the setup below in a class yesterday, approximately an 8 hour day.

I was wearing it the entire time, minus five minutes to tuck in my shirt.  I originally had it out, which was ok, but tucked was better.   I kept a full PMAG30 in the short Esstac KYWI all day.
I sat with it at the picnic table and squatted at the line to pick up mags and rounds.

I thought I would need the suspenders and had them with me but they were unnecessary in this mostly static class. Perhaps in a more dynamic class they'd be necessary.

When I carried ran () a water bottle I ran a tall Aquafina, about a half liter. Less cumbersome than sticking something in a pant pocket. It was nice to have the option to belt mount water and even a full seemed to disappear on the belt. The ITS skeletonized holster was totally unobtrusive when empty.

The EGL dump pouch, mounted at the 6 o'clock, was easy to deploy and use with either hand.   It did rain on us, rather heavily for a few minutes, and the pouch drained up to a certain point lol. When empty the drain rises above the lowest point and some built up there haha. Various contortions were needed to bring those puddles above and then out the hole.
The dump pouch even caught brass from my left side neighbor

The IFAK position was fine but near impossible to reach with my right hand. Not sure what to do here. Up forward and I can't squat. In the back might be an option. We'll see how tough it is to pull Up to get the sleeve out.

We didn't do any low light but my practice around the house made it seem that the flashlight position was ok.

The Esstac KYWI forward position had a canvas section inside separate and it made it difficult to fully reholster that mag. Another thing is that I had paint-penned my mags on the side and because of how the KYWI works it came off onto the kydex and made it more difficult to draw a mag. So if you use these and mark your mags I would recommend marking the front of the mags.

The pouch in front of my holster was both convenient and awkward. I have it mounted on the two remaining molle columns but perhaps I'll use one column and then the belt webbing, just to move it forward a bit lol.

The belt itself was comfortable and didn't ride up much in the back. It did in the beginning and it seems the tightness of the pant belt is a contributor to that. Once it tightened up my pant belt even further the molle seemed to stay in place better.

Had a good time

Depending on how you grip the AR mags, you may want to face them bullets forward.  Looks good otherwise.

First Attempt at a gear belt for HD/Camping and Range.

Volund Gearworks Micro Battle Belt V2
G-Code XST Holster in Grey Kydex and grey fuzz
Single HSGI Pistol Taco for Light
Double HSGI Pistol Taco
Single HSGI Rifle Taco

Will most likely add a First Aid/Trama kit and replacing the Knife with an ESEE at some point.

What else would you add?

Don't know if you 'need' to add anything unless you think you do.  My belt setup is similar to yours in that it's a non padded belt. But, I don't wear mine on top of my trouser belt, it IS my trouser belt, so everything I wear has to have the belt woven through it.  My idea was a scalable setup. My Atlas g-hook belt can coil up fairly tight.  If i'm camping I really only need a knife, a holster, and a pistol mag pouch.  When I'm camping I usually wear a head lamp. I keep a handheld around but just clip it inside a pocket.

If I'm going out shooting then I weave a reload pouch for a rifle mag and typically leave the knife off as I always carry an emerson in my pocket.  I've got a trauma pouch I can wear at the rear if I choose, but again it's all what I choose to throw on.

Then the belt can be worn in conjunction with a chest rig or plate carrier, and then a back pack, as necessary.

YMMV

Which helmet is this? I've been looking for a decent non-airsoft, bump helmet.
