It sure is. I love it. In a day where MOLLE gear dominates the market, where every new pouch and device that comes out is dependant on PALS webbing, it allows one to utilize said pouches on their belt, as well as a drop leg holster/sub load/thigh rig/etc,, without the need for a big padded war belt, something I'm not a big fan of. It's like a war belt without the giant padded part, and in turn, makes it like a molle version of my gunbelt at work that I'm familiar with, only lighter and not as bulky as a war belt.

Grab one and check it out, you won't regret. And if you turn around and feel like you want one, it's war belt pad compatible.

Awsome man thanks much!  Now I have to go emtpy the wallet some more

Question:   Has anyone run a Crye "lap panel" with their Crye JPC ?

http://www.cryeprecision.com/P-ARMUP902000/Lap-Panel%e2%84%a2

Also... I am 6'6" .....does the Board think XLarge will be adequate on Crye armor products (ie. Plate carrier, JPC, Armor Chasis) ?

Thank You.

This is my current setup using Afghanistan:

We start with Fight and Flight Tactical's IOTV Rack MK II, which literally integrates with the quick release mechanism of the IOTV.  You have to unthread the cable to attach the female buckles.

Starting on the far left is an Esstac Nalgene water bottle pouch, which currently holds a pair of binocs.

Next up is a Emdom PM4 double mag pouch holding only one mag.  In the center we have two Esstac double mag shingles with kywi inserts, with a MSM stealth admin pouch and Eagle FB M9 double mag pouch.  To the right is a HSGI radio pouch, and then standard issue IFAK.

Up on the chest portion is a Marz Tactical tourniquet pouch, and then an Emdom GPS pouch.

Not pictured is the Camelbak Armorbak which is my preferred hydration carrier.

I'm constantly re-evaluating placement, so things always change for me.

FWIW, you fall into the "OhmygodtheresemptymollestrapsandIgottaputsomethingtheresothatitsnotemptyanymore" crowd.  Dude, calm down.  Seriously.  If you're going to put anything there, get a small pouch and fill it with 550 cord with a weight on one end in case someone needs to drag your ass out of wherever you are.  I don't see a need for a BUG on a simple vest like that for the simple reason you can throw one in your third line gear.

Anyhow, you asked for opinions, and there's mine.  Take it FWIW, nothing more & nothing less.  Best of luck in whatever you decide.

For the love of God and everything sacred, why did you do that??  Seriously.  I am very interested why with all the other options out there.  Personally, I wouldn't give a Slurpa to my enemies... well maybe I might, but that means I'd have to buy one and that's not going to happen.

There are so many other better options out there.  I guess to each his own.

Fair enough

In my defense, I wasn't freaking out about it. Like I said, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything that could have been useful/put in that area. It's not a mandatory/OCD kinda thing.

Serpa hate ranks up there with EOTech and Glock hate, shows a general level of ignorance.

A) I have used each of them for years and get excellent performance 3) Each is well received among professionals outside of internet gun boards.

I have two EOTechs and Six Glocks.  I do not have any "brand name" hate issues.  I have "product failling issues" and "product design issues" with the Serpa.  For instance, when a former partner and I went to arrest an individual for an outstanding warrant, my partner carried his G19 in a Serpa holster on his right side hip.  As soon as we approached the individual, he began to run.  Once we caught him and tried to handcuff him, the fight was on.  We were rolling around on the ground for about a minute or so when my partner yells "GUN".  We both rolled off the Suspect and went to draw down on him.  I drew my gun, my partner... well he realized that gun on the deck was his.  During the struggle, we both believe that the holster's retention mechanism had gotten pushed as we were rolling around on medium grade rocks in someones front yard.  That was issue number one.

Issue number two was when I was working in the Arizona desert.  I saw a USBP Agent that we were working with slip and fall in the sand.  Nothing big or major, but it was a decent amount of sand and pebbles due to it being a dry river bed.  Anyhow, as he was wiping off all the sand and dirt, he tried to draw his weapon and get the pebbles out of his holster area.  Didn't happen.  The gun was wedged in the holster and we were unable to get his gun out until the Patrol Agent took out his Gerber and pried the lock up.  That was issue number two.

The third problem I see with the SERPA is the simple fact that, IMHO, the only thing your index finger should be doing if you draw your gun is pulling the trigger.  To require a person to use their trigger finger to put any kind of inward pressure on anything during the drawstroke is absolutely insane, to me.  On top of that, to have the shooter putting any kind of pressure on a retention device within an immediate area around the trigger of a weapon, in a high-stress situation, is bad JuJu.  That, is issue number three.

Again, these are my personal opinions and situations that I have seen which could've ended much, much worse for everyone involved.  So yes, I have an issue with shit that doesn't work and was built with inherant design flaws.  Don't care if the name is EOTech, Glock, NcStar, Safariland, or whatever, if it fails when you need it, it does not belong on your person anymore and you have a duty to advise those that carry the item of your experience(s).  If that's what you want to carry, please go right ahead.  But at least think about the situations I had, and the hundreds of documented situations others have had.
-SS

ETA:  The whole "each is recv'd well outside..." comment has little merit with me.  No disrespect whatsoever, but I'd bet a few boxes of doughnuts that you'll find more people that know what they're doing and BTDT who carry a Safariland over Serpa for real world use.  I have seen a huge shift in holsters from Serpas to various Safariland models for many reasons over the years.  Again, carry whatever you want, but just do it with an open mind and best of luck.  [/hijack of thread] -SS

I wouldnt put Serpa in the same category as EOTech and Glock. Serpa holsters are known to fail (sleepershooter brought up 3 good points). Sure, it works for some folks, but a Safariland will do just as good, if not, better.. Safariland > Serpa

PS. I know its a gear porn thread so sorry for the hijack.

Any holster can fail, and his points are easily countered.  If he doesn't like it fine.  Plenty of people have used them with great success.  Does that mean they're wrong?  No.  Use what you want.  Disagree with someone's section, fine.  But leave biased opinions and emotion out of it.

Thanks, I've been doing some fiddling with it, trying to add more trauma supplies without to much bulk and making room for a radio.  I need to take some new pics, maybe even make a video of it.

How I'm gonna go for a while

Exploded

Left to Right- MORA Knife, Pressure Dressing (top) Radio and Bottle of MP7, 3 mags and a CAT

I've had to make room for the radio- lost a magazine and added some trauma stuff.  Befrore all I had was a BOK on my belt, but I figure I'm just as likely to run this with my CCW rig which has no trauma stuff.  I need to add a sharpie and pen or two and maybe a lightsticks

Same gear I posted before (with a few updates) in use...

It is a Tactical Revolutions plate carrier with (from left to right) a Benchmade Rescue Hook, CAT in a Blue Force Gear TQ Now holder, an Ares Gear shot shell carrier mounted on a Peters Custom Holsters panel above a BFG Ten Speed pouch, and an EssTac mag pouch with kydex inserts.

On the back is a RSKTKR Medical FAK, another Ten Speed pouch for bangs and a holder for entry tools.

Here is my updated ACH...

Thanks, specs are as follows:

Helmet - Kejo Armor Special Forces Helmet
Light on the left rear - Streamlight Sidewinder Compact (with the helmet mount on the left side, I just keep in on the back when not in use)
Light on the right rear - Nite Eyes blinky thing that I painted and threw some velcro on (it strobes red, I use it for when I'm caving/low light shooting)
Velcro is Gorilla Glued on
Helmet is painted with Aerovoe Light Coyote from DSG Arms.
