4204 Infected 179 Deaths Death range now 57-94 y.o. Same concern is that each day the death tol per day rises. Justice minister was pissed off at people just ignoring safety precautions. In the big cities we wil probably get a open air gathering ban shortly due to the fact that some of our 'New Dutch people' can't grasp that hanging around on the street in large groups is not the best idea. Native Dutch are just as bad though as they just cant resist going to the 10m2 of nature we have (all nature is good and cannot hurt you). At least the roads to to coast have been closed so I have a deserted beach At least I havent seen fucking Greta and her propaganda on TV try since this started so that's a plus. |

A lot of companies are starting to produce desinfectants and other necessities. The town of Växjö has ordered people on welfare to work on producing them, more towns will follow. |

Good luck with that. They'll screw up more than they'll fix. |

700 confirmed infected
50 people in hospitalized 1 fatality We seem to be following Sweden, but the situation is somehow not as bad at least when it comes to the mortality rate. |

We're up to 33 fatalities now.
Apparently many of the deceased are Somalis. It's being speculated that it's due to them all living together in multi-generational households. |

4749 Confirmed cases 213 Deaths At least some good news as we have had the first day with less deaths than the previous. Of course one 1 day doesn't mean much. For the rest we are getting police enforcement of 'hanging around in groups' bans. All other gatherings/parties banned. Max 3 visitors in your house. Only exceptions are funerals and weddings (no after parties at the weddings btw) @ Swede1986 interesting about the Somali's. Probably the opposite here as the virus was brought back from people taking winter holydays to ski and party in the Alpine region (very popular here), they all got back just in time for the carnival festivities. These are all things that would not be done by Somali's |

2299 infected, 40 fatalities.
Follow-up on the Somalis. 6 out of 15 fatalities in Stockholm were Somalis, despite them being a small fraction of the population. In addition to their multi-generational homes, it seems that they're less likely to seek care in time. Part of it is due to the language barrier, with older Somalis not understanding the seriousness of the epidemic, but to a certain extent it's also due to their distrust of authorities. There are now Somali-speaking doctors going door to door to spread awareness to that particular group. |

Over here rumors are that immigrants from Africa seems to be less prone to get the infection... but it’s just a rumor. Also the 2 biggest Chinese communities (in Milan and Prato) that are well known to live all together in limited space Seems to be less vulnerable as well.. |

6412 Confirmed cases 356 Deaths Deaths per day continue to rise. De Dutch CDC have stated today the hospitalization numbers have stabilized. Stats are in from the ICU unit at the first outbreak location and the mortality rate is 20% (of patients requiring ICU care). These were however all older patients (still not great obviously). |

Interesting thread. Keep posting please.
Especially Italy. But Sweden and Finland and Netherlands too. And you too Ohio. The message in USA is "stay home". Non-essential businesses are restricted or closed; this varies according to State. In Oregon, we do not have brothels but we have many cannabis shops. The government included the cannabis shops in the list of non-essential businesses that should close, but that only lasted for 2 days until a massive public uproar about "my weed" caused the government to change the rule so that cannabis shops are essential businesses. Less important things: Stockholmers, etc: this reminded me of how the normal people in Oregon speak about Portlanders. The different rumors about Somalis in Sweden vs. Afr. immigrants in Italy: this is interesting. Probably, these rumors will be untrue and evaporate, but who knows? Post more info if you hear it. Thanks. |

2806 confirmed infected, 66 fatalities.
Out of the dead, 58% were males. Average age of the deceased was 83. There's talk about putting Stockholm in quarantine, but so far the Public Health Authority has been unwilling to do so. The Army is putting up one field hospital in Stockholm and one in Gothenburg. Other regions are also getting military assistance. |

8603 Confirmed cases 546 Deaths So yesterday I was still hoping we flattened out on the daily death numbers. Wel nope on that one today we saw the biggest daily rise @ 112 deaths. To give a reference the normal amount of deaths in a day is about 350 so that's pretty bad and the Dutch CDC say they expect the peak to occur beginning of May. |

Other areas are way less densely populated and they have now locked down the Uusimaa district (again the most populated area) with the Police and armed forces (conscripts) at the road blocks. We also did start with pretty heavy restrictions early on, compared to some of our neighboring countries, and I truly hope, that we'll be able limit the damage that the virus is going to cause. |

10.866 Confirmed cases 771 Deaths Today a new record for deaths. Dutch CDC have officially let go of the optimistic projection so we basically have the 'Not great, not terrible' and 'Shitshow' left. On a side note the Dutch CDC expects a hot summer with temps above 40 C will really slow it down. NL has had that like only a couple of days in recent years but southern Europe might benefit. |

11750 Confirmed cases 864 Deaths Death toll less than yesterday so kind of hoping we are at the top of the curve. I do however sense quite a bit of nervousness coming of the experts so who knows Main spread area now is the protestant Bible belt because they just have to pack in to church on Sundays. Measures that were set to expire on the 6th of April have been extended. I expect the announcement and other details tomorrow. Meanwhile the virus got on board a Dutch Walrus class submarine operating in the North Atlantic. Seems to have left Portsmouth (UK) on the 16th of march with 58 crewmembers. Now 8 tested positive for antibodies, 7 positive with flu like symptoms. |

19 dead Interesting comparison between Sweden and Finland. Sweden has roughly twice our population, but they haven't initiated as drastic isolation procedures as we have. Here's the result: Infected Fin: 262 cases per population of 1 million Swe: 479 cases per population of 1 million Dead Fin: 3.1 deaths per population of 1 million Swe: 23.1 deaths per population of 1 million Although there are naturally also other explanations, to me it seems that the social distancing really seems to work! |
