Pretty much.

We should build a wall around them.

Media speculates about the mobilization of the Army reserves for the virus. Just fucking great, we mobilize, the soviets Russians kinda have to mobilize, everyone mobilizes. What the hell am I supposed to do against the virus as a fucking forward observer? Start calling in fire missions against the unruly elderly?

When the last vestige of civilization crumbles and we descend into anarchy, I'll be hunting hipsters for food.

2038 reported cases, 25 fatalities at last count.

A lot of companies are starting to produce desinfectants and other necessities. The town of Växjö has ordered people on welfare to work on producing them, more towns will follow.

What? Making the welfare recipients actually WORK for their money? I'm shocked. Good luck with that. They'll screw up more than they'll fix.

We seem to be following Sweden, but the situation is somehow not as bad at least when it comes to the mortality rate.

We're up to 33 fatalities now.

Apparently many of the deceased are Somalis. It's being speculated that it's due to them all living together in multi-generational households.

2299 infected, 40 fatalities.

Follow-up on the Somalis. 6 out of 15 fatalities in Stockholm were Somalis, despite them being a small fraction of the population.

In addition to their multi-generational homes, it seems that they're less likely to seek care in time. Part of it is due to the language barrier, with older Somalis not understanding the seriousness of the epidemic, but to a certain extent it's also due to their distrust of authorities.

There are now Somali-speaking doctors going door to door to spread awareness to that particular group.

Interesting.
Over here rumors are that immigrants from Africa seems to be less prone to get the infection... but it’s just a rumor.
Also the 2 biggest Chinese communities (in Milan and Prato) that are well known to live all together in limited space Seems to be less vulnerable as well..

Interesting thread. Keep posting please.

Especially Italy. But Sweden and Finland and Netherlands too.
And you too Ohio.

The message in USA is "stay home". Non-essential businesses are restricted or closed; this varies according to State.

In Oregon, we do not have brothels but we have many cannabis shops.
The government included the cannabis shops in the list of non-essential businesses that should close, but that only lasted for 2 days until a massive public uproar about "my weed" caused the government to change the rule so that cannabis shops are essential businesses.

Less important things:

Stockholmers, etc: this reminded me of how the normal people in Oregon speak about Portlanders.

The different rumors about Somalis in Sweden vs. Afr. immigrants in Italy: this is interesting. Probably, these rumors will be untrue and evaporate, but who knows? Post more info if you hear it.

Thanks.

2806 confirmed infected, 66 fatalities.

Out of the dead, 58% were males. Average age of the deceased was 83.

There's talk about putting Stockholm in quarantine, but so far the Public Health Authority has been unwilling to do so.

The Army is putting up one field hospital in Stockholm and one in Gothenburg. Other regions are also getting military assistance.

The Helsinki metropolitan area (SIC!) where I live has roughly one fifth of the population in Finland. Other areas are way less densely populated and they have now locked down the Uusimaa district (again the most populated area) with the Police and armed forces (conscripts) at the road blocks. We also did start with pretty heavy restrictions early on, compared to some of our neighboring countries, and I truly hope, that we'll be able limit the damage that the virus is going to cause.

Interesting comparison between Sweden and Finland. Sweden has roughly twice our population, but they haven't initiated as drastic isolation procedures as we have. Here's the result:

Infected
Fin: 262 cases per population of 1 million
Swe: 479 cases per population of 1 million

Dead
Fin: 3.1 deaths per population of 1 million
Swe: 23.1 deaths per population of 1 million

Although there are naturally also other explanations, to me it seems that the social distancing really seems to work!
