By exercising the calls early (and I getting assigned) the long call holder got their shares at the strike price, but gave up the remaining time value. From a purely financial perspective, they would have been better off selling the call to the market, thus capturing the time value, and buying the shares at the market (if they needed shares). Value of an option (the premium) = Time Value + Intrinsic Value. When an option is in the money (stock price > option price for a call), the intrinsic value is 1:1 the difference of the stock price and the strike price. For example, a $5 call option has $1.50/share intrinsic value if the stock is at $6.50. However, with time to expiration, the value of the option is higher than the $1.50 intrinsic value because of the time value (more time for the stock to move). The difference between the price of the option and the intrinsic value is the time value. For our $5 strike example, say the contract was trading at $2.50. $1.50 is intrinsic value, $1.00 is time value. By exercising the call early, the long call holder gets shares at $5, and immediately has a $1.50 gain with the stock at $6.50. However, they gave up the $1 of time value in the exercise. The more prudent trades would have been to sell the option for $2.50, buy shares at $6.50 - this means that their net cost basis (assuming no adjustments for premiums to open the call...) is $4 instead of $5; the $1 difference is the time value they gave up. More than anything what we accomplished yesterday was to pull almost dead even with Luminar, at a fraction of their cash burn and twice the technology. We're positioned well for a major move now. 3X on $2 is only six bucks...3X on $7 is a whole 'nother matter. Pulling back within spitting distance of yesterday's close as I type. |

Dang, my entire watch list is red, with the exception of Microvision and AEye (at a $0.19 stock price).
Nice show of strength right now with the NASDAQ tunneling. |

I couldn't look at my shares in the green and let an opportunity go. I sold a few covered calls at a strike price of 8. Pocketed some cash today and if they get exercised I'll take some nice profit on some lower priced shares.

Twenty-seven million, five hundred shares. That's a lot of conviction from someone. Is there short capitulation on the high side? I guess they have to hold the line, 'cause that unlimited liability gets really ugly. And another huge dump. They knocked 6% off in less than two minutes. This is a helluva fight. |
