Just not in the face, that's how I makes my livings" I spent two weeks in Iwo Jima buried under a pile of dead bodies. The smells I smelled there you could not even imagine. But I will always remember what I smelled in that church. |

Dale's hilarity knows no bounds. I love a good conspiracy theory.
Hank is a fucking dork. He has a good heart, but that doesn't change the fact that he is a total hillbilly doofus. |

Bobby effing Hill!
"I'm sweet on you Connie! I'm your little caaaandy maaaaaan!!" |

Dale is the most obvious source of hilarity. But any Boomhauer centric episode was bound to be a damn good one. http://youtu.be/xdyGfiIirD8 If you watch King of The Hill with closed captioning on it will tell you what Boomhauser is saying |

So torn...Dale and Cotten...
Noticed nobody said John Redcorn. |

I knew a Texan started this thread before I even clicked on it.
...and Dale is great. |

Not how I read Hank at all. Nowhere close, really. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Gotta go with Hank. When the show started, I swore they took my dad and put him on TV. I appreciate that they did a sitcom where the dad wasn't a buffoon. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Really? I mean, I like the show, but... Hank is a loser. A total loser. He's shitty husband, a shitty father, and a complete pussy of a man. He lets his father shit-talk his wife, right in front of him, and doesn't say anything. (Hell, he lets his father shit-talk him, and he doesn't say anything.) He constantly berates his son in subtle (and not so subtle) ways. Bobby may be a bit of a goof, but he's a good kid, and Hank puts him down because he doesn't like what Hank likes. At work, Hank is a doormat for his boss. Buck puts him in the jackpot, time and again, and Hank continues to kiss his ass. If he had nut in his sack, Hank would have gone out on his own and put both Strickland and Thatherton out of business. (Come to think of it, Hank's relationship with his boss is just like his relationship with his dad.) And don't even get me started on Hank's infantile attitude towards sex. Hey Hank, why don't you crack open another cold one and tell us all about the big HS football game 30 years ago... again. Actually, I think "buffoon" sums up Hank perfectly. Not how I read Hank at all. Nowhere close, really. Actually, it's one of the things that makes Hank great - both views are correct. He's hardworking, loyal, skilled and frequently a fount of common sense (or folksy wisdom, if you prefer). He takes care of his possessions and his property, and he loves his son (though he doesn't understand him) and his wife (though she's a know-it-all and occasionally insufferable) and he takes care of his friends when they need help (the annual Bill Dautrive Christmas Suicide Watch). But he also allows himself to be walked on by his father and his boss (which makes sense - he takes after his mother who was treated terribly by his father, and never developed the spine to stand up to Cotton, even to defend his wife. And Buck was basically a father figure). He doesn't understand Bobby so he tries to mold his son into something that he recognizes as good, even if it stifles good qualities already present in his offspring. Sometimes he's right, sometimes he's not. To Hank, he's trying to steer his kid away from a path that could well lead to Bronydom. And that's the genius of Hank. He's not a paragon, and he's not a mook. Just a flawed man in a flawed world. It's just that Hank's flaws are not ones we associate with the central characters of shows. ETA: Dale is the funniest. "After a month of eating mashed roaches you will be BEGGING for gerbster!" |
|
Dale "Raw seafood from the back of a truck, what went wrong?!"

Cotton
He killed fiddy men!

Thanks to that episode, I call all video games "vidja games". My kids love it. ETA: And every time my wife complains about her parents I say "We all have fantasies about kicking our dad's in the crotch, but you never act on them!" ETA 2: A few months ago I picked up our baby kinda quick and she nut shot me. My wife yelled "I don't know you", and my first words were: :"Yooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuu have been kicked in the testicles." |

I don't think there is any debate who the worst is.
If I was Hank,I'd have filled my Ranger with propane and struck a match rather than go home to Peggy. |

All good, but Dales an Arfcommer. It would be wrong not to pick him.

All are great, but Dale made the show.
Next in line for me is Bill for his whole lovable loser element, especially when latched onto stupid things like the Harmonaholics and Dirk the bodybuilder. |
