“Dahmer had a political affiliation with the Democratic Party.. owned a membership certificate and belonged to a task force working to elect a president in 1992.he was arrested in the muddle of all these activities.
The certificate was authentic with the signature of the chairman, Ron Brown |

Quoted: There were numerous calls to the police, as well as a confrontation between Dahmer, his young teen zombified victim, one of his neighbors, and the police depicted in the series that are apparently true to life. The police generally blew people of this community off, which is a central theme of the series and the true story. It was frustrating to watch how clumsy, unsophisticated, and "dumb" Dahmer's "operation" was. He did the bare minimum to try and conceal anything from his neighbors and visitors, and at least in the series didn't even seem to have plausible excuses already thought up, he seemed to make ridiculous claims thought up on the spot when asked (his, uh...tropical fish died, etc.). His arrest for the murders was one of the first parts of the story shown, and I had to look that up to see if it was accurate because of how dumb and careless he was towards police and damning evidence so easily found. The series did change some relatively unimportant details completely unnecessarily, which is always annoying, but generally was extremely well done. A few years ago I watched another documentary film about Dahmer that included filmed interviews. He knew he was not right/sick/f****d up. At one point in his life he tried to get caught. That was not successful and he gave up being concerned, just did what he wanted. Do not remember him actually saying it but I think he knew he would eventually be found out, just did not care. |

What's the level of "sexual content" of this series?
Would you watch it with your live-in elder mom or daughter? Violence portrayal isn't an issue. Just the awkwardness of prolonged scenes of masturbation, sex, and the such. I ask because I read this on IMDB: "Dahmer masturbates to pictures of women and then he starts thinking about killing something." Does it show him fucking dead bodies? For reference, all the extended hand job scenes in Breaking Bad were too much even though they didn't show nudity. |

Plot twist...the site of the Oxford Apartments is Lot 48 in Parks and Rec.
Always trying to build that park... |

I'm almost finished with the series. Incredibly well acted, written and directed. Evan Peters should win several awards for his performance. Ryan Murphy did a really good job of telling the story without turning it into murder porn or overly sexualizing it. They focus on the victims, and the events that led to Dahmer becoming a famous serial killer. I rarely watch television, and I thought that it was wonderfully done. Even the portrayal of his homosexuality was context correct and not overemphasized. It was an integral part of the story about how he obtained most of his victims, and what ultimately kept him relatively "safe" from cops (the one asking if there was any "gay stuff" in his apartment).

We are finishing it up right now, there was absolutely no reason to drag it out 10 episodes. Holy hell it gets slow, and they take far too many liberties with the stories just to add fluff...for no real reason. The guy who plays Dhamer was fantastic, as was Dr. Robert Doback....but it should have been 5, maybe 6 episodes (at the most).
eta: Episode 10 just about completely ruins the series. eta: Episode 10 does ruin the series. |

The JWG murder scene was brutal as hell. That guy was every bit the monster Dahmer was.
It begs the question, who was worse? |
|
I've read about it, and won't watch the movie or series or whatever it is. I already know there are some fuck up sick puppy monsters out there, and for me personally, it would just bring me down, or maybe harm the already precarious view on human behavior I have right now. But I don't hate freedom, and I'm thinking there's lots of good reasons to tell the story, so that maybe it can help prevent other similar occurrences.

Netflix added some untrue content clearly for sensationalism and to play up the race thing.
Glenda Cleveland did not live in the building “ if you google Cleveland there’s a news story about her and where she lived” her only interaction was with the 14 yr old victim who was a street hustler and did not look 14 In a a FBI report the pictures shown of the 14 yr old victim are from when he was younger he had made himself up to look 18 or 19 which is what he said he was. The people who did live around Dahmer thought the buildings sewer system was making the smell because that’s what the building manager told them Dahmer was not ask to move. He lived there 10 yrs and was a good tenet. He was frequently seen sitting in front of the apartment building drinking a 40 oz with other residents. He worked at the Chocolate factory 7 yrs. Everyone in the building though Dahmer was just a regular Joe. He kept his apartment clean and neat with the body parts locked away because the knew if the police ever came by they couldn’t search a locked container. He did not have Aids or hate gays he chose men with slim figures and they willing left with him sometimes for money. He worshiped Satan and had an alter with two Griffin’s named Leon & Apal that him him the power of illusion. He got caught on the last victim because to took the wrong glass with the drugs in it. Dahmer did admit he was glad he got caught because he had gone off the rails and could not control himself anymore he lived to kill. He was for a short time suspected in the Adam Walsh kidnapping because he was in Miami at that time and a witness later was shown a photo of Dahmer said it was him but he denied ever being at the mall where Walsh was kidnapped and the FBI said Dahmer wasn’t the one. https://vault.fbi.gov/jeffrey-lionel-dahmer |

We're wrapping it up. 1-2 left.
The Glenda episode with Jesse Jackson and his eviction stuff was a waste and usless episode. I said, "holly shit, I think that is Molly Ringwald? No way." We IMDBd it..was shocked. Had thought about her in years. |

My good friend plays the man who performed the baptism.
It was a much larger part, but a lot of the work ended up on the cutting room floor. It would have been nice to make it more about the forgiving God and God of vengeance. It was a bit one sided in that episode. I think it was a great show. This is a huge hit for Netflix, for sure. |

I finally made it through the show, but unlike most everyone else, I didn't think it was that great. I started it because I saw people posting all over social media saying things like it was the "best show they'd ever seen", etc. Maybe that had me expecting too much but it wouldn't even be in the top 100 for me. I feel asleep multiple times trying to make it through the episodes in the middle and had to re-watch them. Imo, this could have been summed up in half of the episodes and still gotten the story across exactly the same. They just chose to drag it out. That said, the actors did a phenomenal job in it. They played their parts well.
I was about ready to give up on it, but around episode 7 or so, it started getting more interesting to me again and the last few episodes were pretty good. Even dismissing the part about the residents calling the police, since that doesn't seem like it really happened, this show really shows you how stupid some police officers are. Almost all of these situations could have also been avoided with a little common sense. What kind of idiot would go over to a strangers house for him to take naked pictures of you for money? Then take a drink from said stranger and allow yourself to get drugged. Most of these people could have saved their own lives if they'd listened to the stranger danger tips most people are taught as kids. |
