Been a one monitor user forever, this is really strange working with two.

How long does it take to get use to have 2 screens?  I guess it'd be weird to have just one after having 2 for awhile though.

It is weird with just 2.  You need 3 to balance it out.

Not long at all. You will love it and want to add a 3rd before long. I have 2 24" monitors and a 27"... if I could fit a 4th one on my desk, I would have 4.

Get used to?

You can have multiple browsers in full screen now...it's pretty nice.

Not long. It's absolutely fantastic.

Soon you might add more monitors still... once you find out you want to type something, view something, and scroll through the news or email all at once.

I've got 3 monitors on my home office setup.

Now I don't like 2 monitor setups and hate working in the field with only my laptop display.

+1.  Using just 1 SUCKS.

2 is good. 3 is more betterer.

You'll get used to it pretty quickly. Then you wont be able to work on just one anymore.

This. I do one of the following.

One window dissertation, other window arfcom.

One window dissertation, other window regression results.

One window computer game, other window regression running for hours.

One window movie, other window regression running for hours.

One window exam, other window material I'm basing exam on.

One window excel sheet of grades, other window website I'm posting grades to.

It's wonderful.

You're going to love it.

And you'll very quickly discover you hate working with one whenever you're forced to.
Ie: I hate working on my laptop now.

The weirdest thing is if the second monitor is off, the PC doesn't seem to acknowledge it and your mouse can get lost.

Perhaps dual HDMI fixes this, but if you do DVI or VGA, I believe your desktop is extended even when the monitor is off...so if you lose your pointer, keep pulling it to the left and you should see it.

Two screens at work is very nice when setting at the desk working on projects. I would be interested in a third since one of mine is a laptop that I use on the production floor.

I can't work without three screens.  Two monitors just isn't enough screen real estate.

I'm out of room:

A third monitor would be nice, but I don't know where I'd put it. My desk is kind of weird. Came with the house.

I suggest an asymmetric setup for two, your brain will make more since of it if one is dead center and the other is off to the side. Basically allows for a primary, secondary visual connection.

What your working on right now or that is more important goes in the primary screen, stuff you are also working on, but maybe not as important goes on the secondary.

I can't work with less that two, it's stone age as far as i'm concerned.  I would like to get a third, but I don't currently have enough room on my desk.  I'm thinking spring cleaning here at the office and I can probably squeeze the third in.

Put the tower on the floor or in one of the cabinets.
Then you've got the room.

Not yet. There's a stack of routers, switches (and now audio channel strips) to the right of that I'd have to relocate. And because of where my chair sits (the only place it can), the third monitor would be way too far to the right.

It's a really weird desk, and it's nailed down.

I'm back to one. Granted it's a 34" 21:9 3440x1440 and I wouldn't mind having two more.

That's what I did (not quite 48").  Ditched the multiple and love it.  Can't see going back.  I can have multiple windows on one screen.  Great for my drag and drop purposes.
