I realize it no longer a fad & in some locations superior but it is so ugly like baby poop.

I prefer OD green, or classic black.

Every tree and grass has some brown in it, as does most stone, and dirt.

Very few of these are black or OD green.

I don't mind the color, but hate the marketing gimick names.

flat dark earth = light brown.
scorched earth = black.
olive drab = drab olive color.
foliage green = blue agave green (seriously, what kind of foliage other than blue agave looks like foliage green?)

I built a .22lr AR with an FDE stock, grip and rail. Everything else is black. It gets a lot of compliments at the range.

I like it as long as all the parts match. SCARs for instance, look like shit to me, what with every part being a different color.

If you've been around babies enough, you know that they can poop damn near any color under the sun. That said, I like FDE. I'm not exactly gonna color-coordinate my wardrobe around the color of the plastic bits on my rifle, but hey - they do make shows to teach men how to do that. Like "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy." They'll teach you everything you need to know about color coordination. It'll be fabulous.

In my area, OD green and black are better for operations and hunting. I had a FDE Bushy AR once but sold it. Mainly because it was a Bushy that did not like steel ammo.

FDE is good for desert areas and if I lived in one, I would use that color. However, I am quite tired of the whole War on Terror colors that all manufacturers are wanting to make their guns in. The G19X and the original Marine CQB 1911 are examples. I get that the military could use that color but I wish they would offer the same gun in "normal" colors such as black, gray, and OD. Colt finally started making the Marine 1911 in black and I like it much better.

Too much FDE. It is getting old. Much like our wars.

I like it. One of my Glock 19's, my G43, two of my SBR's, and my Polymer80 frame (when LoneWolf gets around to sending me the right one) are all in FDE.

But, I also have an AR in foliage, two in OD, and 5 in black.

The problem is nailing down exactly what color FDE actually is. It's like women's fucking shoe sizes, every fucking idiot manufacturer has their own stupid fucking idea what shade FDE should be. I've seen everything ranging from a light tan to fucking chocolate fucking brown.

I like Coyote Brown, Flat Dark Erf, Field Drab but I like darker earth colors anyways.

I actually really like any of the colors that aren't black. I would love to have a Grey/Gray or OD rifle.

I see all black rifles and envision cheezy 80's riot police chickenwinging a Remington 870 on CNN.

The GWOT has kinda jaded me (and my generation) on this though. I love the 3 color SCAR 17.

I have warmed up to FDE and like the way it blends with dried grass land.

What is called OD green is much darker and better looking than real olive drab or puke green. I don't associate the new OD with .mil. FDE does remind me of the chocolate chip camo.
