That whole opening scene was filmed about 10min from my house. I used to farm hand just down the road from there, I know the guy who owns/farms it well.

The funniest part about that movie is how it's still like that around here, not much has changed in a hundred years.

Well ain't this place a geographical oddity. Three days from anywhere.

The scene where John Goodman beats the shit out of the other guy with a tree branch while George Clooney's character watches and eats his sandwich.

Goodman was supposed to be the cyclops from the Odyssey for those that didn't catch that. In a similar vein Life with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence is one of my all time favorites as well.

One of my favorites!

I've watched it probably 20 times. I was still picking up little things here and there even in the 10th viewing. Lots of small (and large) nods to "The Odyssey".

We have a neighbor that looks a lot like "Delmar" and sounds just like him.

When his character first appeared and started talking my wife laughed so hard I though she was going pass out.

Great movie though and good music too.
