Several years ago I boarded a plane with someone like that. He was enormous. It was a smaller plane - a window seat and aisle seat on either side. He couldn’t get in his window seat so he lifted up the arm rest and took up all of mine. It was impossible for me to take my seat. I notified the flight attendant and they said no other seats available. I told them missing my flight wasn’t and option. Fortunately, there was a seat in first class so I got that one.
