Sounds like they had these dogs a long time before the children were born .

If I was the father I think I would blow my brains out . Losing both children and possibly his wife

Never.

Everyone thinks "my dog wouldn't hurt a fly!"

Literally all of them.

I don't know any pitbull owners that think "Damn, my dog is fucking dangerous as hell...I'd not let it be around a child."

Not one.

The why is easy. It was breakfast time and the pits were hungry. Or it was play time and the pits discovered two new meaty toys. Sarcasm. It doesn’t matter! The pits did what pits do! A killer breed that kills because that’s what it was bred to do. Easy.

I own a pit and my dog could possibly be dangerous to children (he's never exhibited aggressive behavior towards other dogs or my friends older children) I won't allow small children around my dog. And I keep him secured in a fenced in yard under supervision or on a strong leash when out to vet trips. I'm hyper paranoid about my dog hurting someone. He's been an amazing dog but i will always have that worry in the back of my mind so I am vigilant.

stupid. and irresponsible.
you have kids the dogs gotta go. ESPECIALLY unpredictable ones like pitbulls.

my stupid friend got a pitbull mix awhile back, he just had a kid. I told him get rid of the fucking dog but he refuses
"she'd never do anything bad"
I hope that doesn't bite him in the ass, but I'd never have one of those dogs around small children.

When I see stories like this I feel saddened for those hurt/killed.

But then the “Should have fucking known, pitbulls have a sterotype for a reason” thoughts usually take over and win.

Banning a certain breed of dog is akin to banning a certain type of rifle.

Be responsible. Little kids and loaded guns don't mix. Nor do little kids and large, powerful dogs.

"But my Pit Bull is so sweet and gentle."

So is my AR-15.

I've seen little kids handle loaded guns well. I'll be training mine the same way.

It is dissimilar in that an ar15 is not autonomous and seeking conflict like a dog bred for fighting.

That's a horrible way for those two kids to die.

And a horrible thing to have to live with from now on.

Working breeds have to be owned by people who understand what they are capable of and effectively manage it.

Even then, even when you do manage it you have to be aware that the dog can freak the fuck out and attack people randomly.

Good friend of mine fought with his pit mix rescue dog because it had a seizure, freaked out, and tried to kill his wife. It took him 30 minutes of struggling with that dog for all he was worth while in his underwear before someone else could come and help him get that dog's mouth secured with duct tape so he could drag it out in the back yard and shoot it in the head.

People who go around screeching about their "sweet baby" are usually fucking idiots who have no idea what they are doing.

The point I was trying to make is that the legislative argument for banning Pit Bulls will become a reductio as absurdum argument for banning "dangerous weapons".

If you like your Pit Bull, you can keep your Pit Bull. But keep it secured and away from small children. Or old ladies. Or any demographic that has been mauled or murdered by them.
