This demonstrates the difference between "caring" and "giving a shit." D_J gives a shit, he just doesn't care.

The hypocrisy behind the Dems "we're all equal", but then pointing out they have nominated a black man for the first time ever speaks volumes.

So 18 voted against McCarthy.  If an actual conservative was speaker, how many Rinos and moderates would vote against any conservative measure put forth?  We don't have a winning hand here either way.

What are the odds that the Republicans screw around and we end up with Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker?  If there were any viable alternative to the Democrats, the Republicans would be toast.

It does matter, and throwing a tantrum in the House and risking the Speakership isn't going to get us where we need to go.

The Freedom Caucus and Biggs already tried to get the Speakership. They lost. There was already an election, and they lost. There is no possible scenario at this point that'll change that outcome.

The ONLY potential outcomes are:

1) McCarthy wins,
2) Someone like Scalise steps in and wins, or
3) a handful of RINOs join with Democrats to elect a "unity" candidate who would be much, much worse than McCarthy

I'd like to see Scalise take it but that's not likely based on the reporting we have.

And yes, it does matter, because the Speaker will determine who gets what committee assignments and what investigations can take place. Or not. Oh, and what legislation hits the floor. Yes, that matters. A lot.

All this bullshit does is make the entire party look like a bunch of fucking incompetent clowns. And... That's an accurate assessment so far.

I think that's the whole point.

We pretty much know McCarthy is going to continue to control spending in his office with the lobbyists and government swamp dwellers, and all investigations will be limited so as not to do 'too much damage to institutions.' McCarthy is Mitch without the drawl. You can support that, or not.

It's amazing that the "moderate" Democrats will fall in line behind a far-left nominee but the moderate Republicans will refuse to do so.  Of course, the Democrats have swung so hard left in the last couple decades that the once "far-left" Pelosi was derided as "too moderate" by many in her party when she last won the Speaker election, but I digress.

McCarthy will get it, he will reach across the isle more often than not.

Republicans will stay home in 2 years, the left will get the house back and more.
