What are some of your favs?
Mine is “reach out.” “John, can you REACH OUT to operational engineering please? These figures for the fuel consumption rate appear wrong.” “If you have any questions, please REACH OUT to me.” Etc. etc. It’s tarded. Of course this often gets combined with “touch base” and if there are salutations with preferred pronouns it becomes a trifecta of tardation. It’s all so tiresome. Please REACH OUT and tell us your favs! |

OP needs to circle back on the project as it lacks the synergy created through buy in from the other posters in peer ARF departments
Touch base and reach out have been used long before email was a thing. I hear them on the phone regularly.
I'm not even in the corporate world and I regularly get "circle back" in my emails....which seems redundant when we are already talking about it. |

You need to collaborate with others on this reach out initiative.

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Isn't that just, you know, colloquial english? Do you often HEAR people walking around saying “I will REACH OUT” to someone? I don’t. But thanks for TOUCHING BASE. I do, a lot. Touch base especially. Like if I schedule concrete with backup dates I hear something "Okay, touch base with me next Monday to finalize it" from the dispatcher. |

We had a "town hall" meeting that had nothing to do with the town we're in.
It was just 6 of us from the lab. |

‘Going forward’ in reference to doing something in the future. Is it possible to go backward? You even ‘go forward’ when you ‘circle back’.
Not limited to email by any means. Tards actually speak this way in real life.
There has definitely been a paradigm shift in corporate emails.
Maybe you should reach out to them to discuss?
Let’s circle back to this. |
The one I haven't heard in a long time is " Thanks for the follow up." Used to hear it in the major company I've worked for for nearly 30 some odd years. Guess ignoring a sincere effort on your part is the norm nowadays.

Quoted: Unexpected headwinds. Bitch, you didn't plan properly. View Quote Economic headwinds We are slightly behind forecast to plan due to economic headwinds. ‘Virtuous cycle’ seems to be making a comeback. ‘Motion’ is the latest one driving me nuts. Our CEO was talking about our ‘employee centric motion’ and now everything has become motion. |

"I have an ask".
Ask is not a noun,- you have a request, not an "ask". |
The one that goes right through me is "ping", as in I'll ping (reach out to, lol) him.
reach out, touch base and circle back are already covered here.
I hate managers who say "I have one ask..."- I've heard it stated that's not even correct English, but it has caught on during video presentations to motivate employees. |
Action Item...
who uses that outside of work? Honey, can you pick up the kids? Sure I will take an action item to do so. |
Give me a jingle.
Hubby. Ok, not really corporate world but annoying nonetheless |

the 30,000 foot view
it's all a symptom of bullshit jobs. People with bullshit jobs use bullshit words. Easily half of white collar work doesn't actually need to exists. The biggest short term impact that AI will have is it's ability to replace millions of white collar bullshit jobs. I worked for a large multinational and I swear they would have meetings about planning other meetings. Meetings were the product. That and the flavor of the month corporate management trendy program. |
Half-smart people will twist words in ways designed to confuse the audience, to make themselves appear smarter.
It is a "tell" that you're dealing with someone not very smart. |
Bullshit jobs held by bullshit employees who hang bullshit degrees in their corner office. And they even have the nerve to put MBA behind their name in their LinkedIn like it is some sort of honorific title.
No dude, you didn't learn shit. You just fucked around for two years and made new drinking buddies. Those folks are the ones who make the buzzwords and business "Newspeak" of the post modern Fascistic corporate morass. |
This is rapidly becoming another "four legs good, two legs bad" thread.
Strategic. Everything is strategic coming from people who don’t have the sense to develop a strategy to drink a glass of milk.

MBAs have to contribute something to the business world,
because it's sure not competence. |

What do you propose we substitute “Reach Out” with?
Contact, get with, communicate with, inform, collaborate , etc? Worked with a guy who always referred to calling someone on the phone as ‘giving a buzz’. Yes, the guy was old enough to probably remember calling an operator to connect him to a phone number. |
I heard "drill down" about a dozen times in a 45 minute meeting yesterday.

Circle back, synergy, mind spring...I heard all of the stupid sayings and you could tell the ones that were trending at corporate, as all corporate visitors were parroting these words for months at a time until new buzz words came along.
