No threaded barrel AND a manual safety, it’s a no from me. |
|
I can live with the safety but no threaded barrel is a dealbreaker.
Surely it will be an option at some point. |
|
They took a page from glock and decided to charge extra for a threaded barrel? Imagine if someone sold an AR today without a threaded barrel. That company would last a week. The pistol should be sold threaded and if the owner decides they can order a non threaded. And yes I get that they save 10 bucks per gun by not threading. They also just got to keep one gun on the shelf for not having threads

The barrel can not be threaded like the M&P 5.7 barrel because that threaded sleeve is causing baffles strikes. |

What's the muzzle velocity with magnum ammo?
Is there sub-sonic ammo for the .22 magnum like there is for the .22 LR? Off to get more smarterer. |

I’ve seen multiple posts on Reddit from people saying they have gotten baffle strikes from different cans all using the same gun (M&P 5.7). I have never heard of a baffle strike on a rimfire can until the M&P 5.7 came out. S&W threaded a removable sleeve that fits around the barrel (not the actual barrel). |

I love that S&W is playing monkey see monkey do with the Keltec catalog.
Really. I would have bought this instead of the PMR-30. But I already have a PMR-30 and it is actually pretty badass so for me they are probably a bit too late. |

30rds of 22 magnum sounds like a shitload of fun. It’s a nicer PMR30

You have a ton of unburned powder coming out the end of that thing. Just enjoy the fireballs and buy a .22LR for ninja shit. |

The S&W third generation catalog is a mess. A bazillion derivatives, special versions, and I learn about a new old gun every week.
I see S&W hasn't changed their ways. |
|
I have 2 PMR30’s (one is unfired and an impulse buy) but I would love to compare the Keltec to the M&P.
That said, my older PMR30 is very reliable so far. |

View Quote yea .22wmr is a little cheaper than 9mm around here but its still only about .6-.8cpr cheaper I cant really think of a real use for this pistol, its more of a "hey thats cool" range toy. I like that you can put a dot on it though. Anyone recognize what the optic footprint is? |
|
The KelTec PMR-30 is an extremely fun pistol with very sketchy build quality.
If this pistol retains the fun factor while adding some quality and an optics cut, it's going to make some people happy. |
|

This shows that Kel-Tec should be an R&D company for other manufacturers.

The PMR 30 that I have has been fantastic. I see no need to give S&W an extra 200 bucks after they are 10 years late to the party. To each their own I guess.

I gotta get on with my day, and I know how this ends.
I saw several people complaining that this new pistol did not come with a threaded barrel. I asked for a link to a factory built .22 mag auto loader with a threaded barrel. None were posted. None will be posted. For the GD armchair weapon designers, the .22 mag is not an easy cartridge to make work in a semi pistol. (And no, it is not because the .22 mag is higher pressure relative to the .22LR. They are the same.) Adding an unknown amount of (highly leveraged) weight and an unknown amount of back pressure demolishes the working factory formula of slide weight, spring tension, and unlock delay. So complain about the barrel all you want, and you may get an aftermarket threaded barrel, or maybe even a factory threaded barrel for a muzzle brake, but getting a factory threaded barrel for a suppressor for a .22 mag pistol is highly unlikely. |

I kind of like it but agree with it needing a threaded barrel.

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Threaded barrel on a 22 Mag pistol is about as pointless as it gets. You have a ton of unburned powder coming out the end of that thing. By that logic, threaded barrel on a 5.56mm SBR is just as pointless. Even if it doesn't suppress as well as other calibers, it's still worth suppressing. I won't buy anything I can't run my suppressors on any more. Quoted: I gotta get on with my day, and I know how this ends. I am not a firearm designer, but my understanding is that the biggest issue with 22 Mag handguns is feeding reliably. Most are fixed barrels and even if not, a rimfire suppressor is light enough to run without a booster. It shouldn't affect function on a properly designed handgun. One of my biggest issues with the PMR30 is that Keltec says don't run them suppressed. If you're going to come out with a 22 WMR pistol, you should consider the fact that suppressors have become a pretty big market. To say that noone should bother designing a threaded 22 WMR is just silly. With that logic, why did we ever progress beyond single action revolvers? Making a reliable semi auto handgun was considered a difficult task at one point in history as well. |

Looks awesome but I don't shoot .22 WMR. Wish it was .22 LR.

Looks like a Kel-tec jammomatic POS to me.
That's a sizable no for me dawg. It's probably not worth two-fifty if the truth were known. |

What kind of Kel-Tec reject caveman does S&W have designing their guns?

50 rounds of 22 mag hollow points is about $15.00
50 rounds of 9mm hollow points are about $45.00 50 rounds of 9mm FMJ are about $15.00 |
