Time to go to the mall dropping some powder as I walk around.
|
|
My local mall, the Christiana Mall in northern Delaware, has had signs for at least a few months now that they are also using gun-sniffing dogs. Seems to be the current "in thing" for security theater.

I know of two people, one a cop and another not that got tagged by a mall gun sniffing dog. Both were armed.

Last time I was there I assumed they were firearm sniffer dogs and just avoided the dogs. In for more info.

Yep, I saw that at the Kenwood Mall in Cincinnati. K9 handler said they were trained to detect guns and explosives. I wonder if I can conceal carry a really small xbow?
|

Maybe the Mall of America is different but the malls around here have changed to the point where I'm not sure I'd want to go even if I was armed.

I googled mall of america security. Do they really openly carry rifles and have a range at the mall?

They have them at the Galleria in Hoover, AL
From what I understand they are trained but not law enforcement certified. IE 4th amendment concerns |
|
Polaris Mall in Columbus supposedly has similar dogs. They didn't detect anything on me when I walked by.
Gang bangers won't give a fuck and will just run, or start shooting, if caught. Those legally carrying can only be asked to leave the premises, so they are technically targeting the law abiding patrons who want to spend money at the mall. Seems like a poor business model, but these days malls suck and seem to have gang banger issues. So maybe that is what they want. |

Clean and use bengay to grease your gun before you go to throw the dogs nose off
Don’t wear a jacket that you shoot in |
|
The local mall here advertises that it uses gun-sniffing dogs, but the only dogs I ever see there are the purse-rat kind.

Just don’t admit to anything and tell them to get bent, they have no right to search or pat you down. Then get the F out if you’re in a place where they want to arrest people for carrying at a mall.

I will confirm as I was outed in Wolfchase Galleria in Memphis. The 4 cops and mall security approached me. It wasn't posted at any entrance that I couldn't carry. They were all real cool and were only checking the hit from the dog to confirm. I was carrying an LCR 38,at appendix, cleaned night before. One cop even said " it's Memphis mane" and shrugged his shoulders. No escort out but I'm probably not the demographic they worry about.

I haven't been to a mall since they stopped having kick ass video game arcades in them.
What's the point otherwise to go to a mall? |

From what I understand any government facility that bans guns can charge you (like a courthouse) but for private property like malls they will ask you to leave and if you refuse to leave at that point you can be charged with trespassing and possibly more. My rule of thumb is to carry everywhere except where metal detectors or pat-downs are expected and if I'm caught and asked to leave a private property I'm not going to argue and just leave. |

I wouldn't confirm I had a gun if the dog hit in me. All they can so is ask you to leave.

Simon Malls has them and I can confirm that they did hit on my kids diaper bag. Told them I wasnt carrying and that the bag does on occasion have a gun in it, and they said that was fine, he probably hit on that and told me to have a good day. I'm a white 43 year old with a toddler, so I probably wasnt the droids they were looking for. Not disclosing whether I had one in the bag or on my person at the time. Now TSA apparently got a hit on fertilizer residue on a stroller that had been in the bed of my truck a week before the trip. Stroller had been rinsed off once, and through a torrential downpour in Orlando, and it still apparently registered.

View Quote In OK, it falls under business owners rights, just like a no shoes no shirt policy. They can ask you to leave, but thats all. Most would probably call PD and have them ask. Refusal is a trespassing citation. Most cops arent gonna push that unless you (or they) are a total tool. So no, not gonna lose your CCW or right to carry. We have constitutional carry anyways, so how can they take away a permit you dont even have? Hell, county officer at our local mall saw a guy open carrying and the mall is posted, and he just told him to cover it up because he'd rather the guy have it on him than left in the car. Now in TX, if its signage that meets the legal requirements, often referred to as a 30.06 sign, as thats the statute it falls under, its a little more serious, its a class c misdemeanor. |

LOL.
I like how they say that people do not even know what the dog is doing, yet the handler pays out the toy reward by throwing it at the persons back. I work my girl on and off leash. She's a gentle, sweet girl who wouldn't harm anyone. But...... She's a beast when she gets her toy reward. I have to make sure nothing valuable or anyone is in the way. She has knocked over a few people. And yes,I learned at the training facility I use for my dog that those dogs are trained on solvent, oils and burnt powder residue. |

Dump a bottle of Hoppe's #9 or CLP onto the carpet near the entrance and watch the doggie work hard chasing everyone.
