9mm Glock and Smith & Wesson M&P conceal well. Most writers in the gun magazines will grudgingly tell you that recent advances in hollow point bullet technology have pretty much equalized the performance of all standard handgun calibers.
I have .45 ACP and I have 9mm, I would rather carry 12-15 rounds than 7-10 rounds. Have you been trained recently? Are you practicing regularly? Accuracy of delivery has always been the key to success, no matter which caliber is employed. |

HK45C is slim for a .45. Flush 8 rds and you can have 10 rds extended, although you give up some stealth.
For warm climates, 9mm owns this game. |

how is a 1911 limited to 6 rounds?
a standard commander or full size will take a flush fit 8+1 in the pipe. So if that's good enough, rock on. |

M&P 45 is what you seek.
Although I don't find the PPQ 45 too big to carry, the M&P 45 feels a little bit smaller than the PPQ. You can get one in 10+1 with a 4" bbl. They both can shoot equally well. |

1911 with an 8 round mag and a 10 round reload is the route I would go. It's worth sacrificing a round or two for the ergonomic, weight and trigger of the 1911. The only reason to carry something other than a good 1911, is for a significant capacity increase.
Glock 30 Gen 5 will probably have the best trigger of the striker fired guns. XDM .45 Compact. About the same size as a Glock 19. He downside is that it will have the old shitty striker triggers everything used to have (equivalent to block gen 3). You live in Florida. Why on earth would you limit yourself to 10 rounds?

The overall feel of the HK45 is a massive improvement over the older USP line, and much easier to shoot accurately in my experience. Both are extremely durable, some of the toughest pistols available as proven by extreme testing. The HK45 full size is near magical to shoot, although standard flush mags are only 10 rds (nearly single stack geometry). I know HK could have engineered it told hold 12 rds with slight mods and would have eliminated the #1 beef everyone has about it vs the USP. You can get some very expensive 13 rd extended mags for it, but it's no concern for me. People should spend more time at the range honing their skills and less time worrying about an extra 2-3 rds. |

XDm 3.8 Compact and then carry a 13 round reload for it if you want capacity.

One of my guns in the rotation is a SigC3. It's a 1911 CCO. Commander barrel and slide on an Officers frame. 7+1 with flush mounted mag. I carry two Wilson Combat 8 rd mags as spares.
The Glock 19 is actually the same size as a CCO. With the 1911 being a little slimmer, but with sharper edges and corners that Glocks don't have. |

OP, what holster are you using?
I carried my XD 45 Service model and a full size XDm 9 for well over 10 years in a Crossbreed Supertuck, both disappeared easily and were comfortable for all day carry even in the blazing NC summer. |

P227 has an alloy frame and is lighter than the slimmer p220. $750 isn't a bad price for a classic P Series Sig if it is in good shape. I have to admit though that I am very biased towards Sig Sauer. I own mostly Sig pistols and have never had an issue with any of them. Sig stands behind their lifetime warranty every time, no questions asked. In my experience the make some of the most reliable and accurate pistols on the market today. It's not a .45 but also look at the Sig X Ten Comp. It's a 15+1 10mm with a 3.8" barrel and built in compensator. The polymer frame makes it lightweight and the 3.8" barrel makes it easily concealable. Over 2k rounds through mine with ZERO failures of any kind. It's also lights out deadly accurate. Here's a pic of a 10 shot group at 15 yds. 8 rounds in to a single 1"hole with 2 bad shots (my fault)opening the group to roughly 2". The X Ten Comp is now my daily CCW. https://ibb.co/VDN1cp8 |

 The PPQ 45 is not really that bad at all, the grip is definitely a full-size grip, no getting around that. The problem I always had with it is that I've still never found anybody that makes a good holster for it, whereas I have three excellent holsters for the M&P. |

Shield 45. You can get +1 base plate from Hyve Technologies for the 7rd mag. Taking it to 8+1.
I also have a M&P 45 Full-size 1.0. I replaced the sear, springs and trigger with Apex. It shoots great, but bigger than the Shield 45. |

I carry a full sized 1911, with a CMC 8rd flush fit power mag, plus one ion the chamber for 9 total rds of .45 HST. A 1911 is one of the slimmest guns in a combat caliber you can carry. It nearly disappears if you wear it right. Pick a good, American made brand, and it will be 100% reliable with CMC mags.
I have a Springfield Garrison at this point, 100% reliable with the factory mag and the two CMC 8 round mags. Colt would be great as well. Both are forged steel slides and frames. |
