For those looking for ACOGs, check Universal Mania. I bought mine from them a little over a year ago. Best price I could find, I think $1277, and received it within a week.

Bullets, bourbon and buoyancy. Not necessarily in that order.

As the A2 started to get replaced by the A4, did the uppers just get replaced or was it entire rifles?

So a guy is offering a FN Military Collector 20" A4 for my Colt 6920 SOCOM with M4A1 lower. I know brand new the FN is more expensive. However, unless Colt brings back the SOCOM line the M4A1 is very hard to get and people pay stupid prices just for the lower.
I really want a M16A4 clone, and had always planned on saving up for a Colt AR-15A4 and adding the knights rail myself. So what are your thoughts? Decent trade or am I crazy? * I should add it's one of the newer ones with Safe/Semi/Auto |

Ive never seen a factory Colt rifle that didn't have a triangle end cap. Every A2 and A4 has them.

Could be some quirky commercial shit Colt pulled on the AR15A2. We know they like to dabble from time to time (I.E. sear blocks, odd sized FCG pins etc)
So I believe you. But their military models use the triangle cap |

Dog1, I've seen you here for a long time and got some respect for you. If it was anyone else I'd outright tell them they were wrong.
I'd suspect that you are remembering seeing the round tabs on the A2 handguards which would make it look round. But who knows, there are all sorts of oddities out there. |

I just finished my A4 clone. It started its life as a lowly PSA freedom rifle, but was totally dismantled. The good things were kept, but the bad and ugly are on armslist (if you're interested). However, I need a few things to complete it . . . But on a budget. I did sit on the Santa's lap at my local mall and asked him for an ACOG. It can't hurt, right? But an ACOG will probably never be a part of this particular rifle. I'm looking for a sling (2 point), mag pouch and bayonet. Can anyone point me to these items? But remember on a budget.
The rifle, as its pictured, has a Windham Weaponry Govt. Profile, 1.7 twist, chrome-lined barrel (they gave me 10% off and a free +.040 front sight post for $193.58 shipped!), PSA bolt carrier with a JP Enterprises HP bolt, KAC M5 rail and verticle grip I found on ebay for about $160.00 (YAY! ebay!). The rest is pretty much what I could find on sales (I'll upgrade the trigger when I decide what I want). All told I built it pretty cheap. " /> " /> " /> |

So what are appropriate optics to use on an A4 clone?
I know TA31Fs, RCO, Aimpoint Comp M2-5, any Eotechs |

Where are you guys getting the proper barrels?
Most everything I can find either has a standard FSB or is Nitrided. |

That's the one I used. And as was mentioned, just put the +.040 front sight post in. It took me all of 30 sec. Windham Weaponry actually gave it to me for free with the barrel. |

Another option is PSA. They carry 20" CHF FN uppers. Solid barrels and they have the FSB. Unfortunately, they are not in stock at the moment. Not sure when they will.

buy a Colt ar15a4 and call it good. My first a4 was done with a a WW barrel (they have m4 ramps) but I love my new colt. Id rather have the colt anyday and if not Colt, then FN

I just entered Arizona, and I get to taste a little freedom. My A4 finally gets to feel like a proper A4... I couldn't find my KAC pistol grip
Attached File I paid a 10$ premium for that stock, but I think it was well worth the money. I'm also looking to find a proper barrel, the barrel on this build is a Colt M16A2 barrel with a taller front sight post. I've been keeping an eye out for those palmetto FN barreled uppers. I plan on getting one of those and getting an FN upper and matching them together for a pseudo-FN build. |
