Not to mention having a 14.5" barrel. I still haven't seen a military M4 with a 16" barrel. They just look ghey and can, in no way, be considered M4geries.

This is a picture thread.  I must have overlooked your picture?  There are lots of folks who can't even get the "must have an M4 barrel cut" part right.  I see a few DD carbines with extended handguards and no M4 cut and SBRs with barrels that are about 10-11.5" long (no room for an M4 barrel step) in the last couple of pages alone.

For the picture requirement, here's one of mine.  It is 14.5" long, but that's just because I don't like the looks of the extra length on the 16" barrels and like to be able to attach a bayonet - I don't care what a "real M4" looks like or what the military uses.  It is so light I can almost forget I'm wearing it when I sling it on my back.

ETA: Details:
DPMS C7 upper receiver
DPMS lower receiver
Wilson Arms 14.5" barrel with YHM Phantom pinned/welded by ADCO
Bushmaster old-school 4-pos stock
Hogue grip
Bushmaster carbine handguards
Stag/CMT side sling loop
Tactical Tailor 3-point sling

About as plain (and light) as you can get.  Nothing fancy.

Are they good to go with an A2 flash-hider or would I need a new/longer one for it to be NFA compliant?

I assume you are talking to me...

No, these are NFA rifles. You can buy just the 6921 upper and have a local dealer permanently install a compliant FH (Vortex or Phantom, etc...) to reach the 16" minimum length for a Title 1 weapon.

Well how do you get a regular NFA rifle as is? What's the process?

In the meantime, aside from Vortex or Phantom, what are some other similar flash hiders?

I'm assuming that since you are in NY, NFA is a no go...  However in more free states, you send in your $200 per item and wait for the tax stamp to arrive.

Besides the Vortex and Phantom, there is the PWS, the Noveske KX3, most manufactures suppressor mounts (not sure of the legalities in NY).

Finally got my KAC RAS! New in box w/ all the rail covers and VFG for $175. Now it's a perfect clone of my M4 while I was at Fort Benning! (Except the VFG)

Just need a mount for my Aimpoint M2 (probably a QRP), a flashlight, and a green laser and it'll be all done.

Sabre Defence, BCM and Denny's make extended A2 FHs, you can hardly tell the difference

Colt 6400c s (registered SBRs) with 14.5" 6921 uppers and standard A2 FH

Colt 6920 with 14.5" 6921 upper and permamently attached extended Sabre A2 FH

BCM 14.5" upper and permanent extended A2 FH

Win. Thanks for the tip. The FH is easy to install I presume? A friend of mine with no gunsmith experience just built another AR, and he says it went on easy and hasn't been giving him any problems.

its a TA31F and the other one is a TAO1NSN

the difference is the reticle.  the tA31 has a chevron and the NSN has crosshairs,  both have a BDC and the 31  chevron glows in the day from the fiber optic tube on top of it
