Still playing with KAC's rail covers and different grips, light and sling mounts, trying to find an optimal setup. Anyone got a decent source for KAC/P&S rail covers for the RAS? Everywhere I look, they're expensive as hell. |

I gotta question... then a story about how I backed into a Block1 build.
Question: did somebody at KAC spill something in my rail cover sleeve or is there supposed to be sticky/stinky shit in it? Story: I decided to get a table at a local(ish) gun show. Day 1 first guy to my table comes up and asks if I wanted to buy a “tri-pod” for an AR. He said it was out in his car.... I said “not really, but I’ll look at it”. He’s an older guy probably in his 70s and I figured he had some big ol’ monstrosity that he’d need help with so I asked him if he wanted me to go out and look at it, but he said no... he showed back up about an hour later with this box.. " /> Obviously not a tripod... but well worth the $80 he was asking Then the second day about an hour before time to pack up... I was walking back from the little boys room and noticed a barrel sitting on a table that wasn’t there the last time I went a few hours earlier... somebody had the vendor put it back the day before and was going to be “right back” with cash, but didn’t come back so... he sold it to me for $125 I had a MaTech sitting on my table that I got for almost nothing over a year ago and even at $35 nobody bought it. It’s not for sale anymore. " /> And that’s how the universe told me I needed to build a Block1 Colt upper/BCG and FSP strap swivel are inbound. Gunna order an A2x presently... And there’s a 6920 lower out there somewhere just waiting for me. The rest will come as funds allow. |

The covers are nice, they feel just like the standard plastic handguard. |

Does anyone know when SOCOM barrels starting going onto SOPMOD rifles? I'm finally going to replace the 16" barrel on my early Block I clone, but I'm not sure if I should get a SOCOM barrel or M4 profile

I prefer the spacer to an extended hider.
Eta: either will get the job done. Personal preference dictates. |

My only concern with the spacer is how well a m9 will attach once installed. One of the best parts of having a 14.5” bbl is bayobillity.

A2x or a A2+spacer... which is better? Also.. I have a Colt Alcoa(AF) and a Colt BA(square) marked uppers... the “square” has T marks, and the AF does not... which is better for a block one? or does it matter? Right now the AF is on my Commando 11.5”(agency/SWAT trade in upper), and the brass aluminum forge is on my block 1. https://s26.postimg.cc/82nn8p2k9/E50_C95_BB-_F82_A-4911-_B869-244_F609_E6728.jpg I need lowers for both, obviously the 11.5” will need something pistolizable. My lgs has Colt competition marked virgin lowers, but that might look funny on a Commando. I want LE restricted, but don’t think they are available in virgin form. Until I get the right lowers and p and w something to the 14.5” they are sharing a Aero lower with a Sig brace. I’ll probably just put the Block1 on a LE6920 lower after I pin and weld and keep the Commando on the aero and SBR it with a LE Restrited lower later. https://s26.postimg.cc/bz0z4nsop/27909_BD2-_C1_CF-4376-85_C9-4_AA2_AE2036_C0.jpg https://s26.postimg.cc/a7809sjmh/0_A70436_C-9392-408_F-870_E-0_C8_B45_F177_B4.jpg View Quote |

I know that sounds crazy early but it also sounds correct to me lol "a new heavy barrel was designed for the M4A1 to better cope with the excessive operational conditions which SOCOM demanded, by providing a larger bearing surface from which heat could dissipate. Additionally, a new heavier M4 buffer, designated the H2, was designed to enhance reliability by preventing any possible bolt bounce due to the extremely high cyclic rates of full-automatic fire." A "high reliability kit" was proposed for SOCOM which included the heavier barrel and the H2 buffer. Not exactly sure of the date, but sometime in the '98 to '99 time frame? So definitely during the SOPMOD Block I program and before Block II began in '05. |

Need A2X to correctly mount bayonet, need spacer to correctly mount BFA. (Things I've learned on the subject)
If you ask me, id rather be able to use my bayo correctly than my BFA. But the spacer does look better |
