I have a 6920 Colt SOPMOD Block 1 clone with the stock Schmid Tool trigger/hammer assembly.  It is probably one of the worst triggers I have ever had in an AR, it's gritty, scratchy, creepy, rough and if you let up on the trigger before it releases the hammer it just stays stuck where its at and doesn't always return on its own due to how rough it is.  I use plenty of lube on it but it doesn't do anything to help.

Is it "within specs" to replace the firing group with a 2 stage type trigger assembly and still be a clone?  Or does that push it out of boundary.  I saw this linked from another thread and wondered if this would qualify, as it's a Schmid Tool assembly, but obviously different than the "milspec" semi-auto assembly.  It does have the "S" on the parts and the trigger that is exposed looks like a milspec trigger.

You are overthinking it. If the trigger is negatively effecting your gun, replace it. Nobody will call the clone police on you, except Tig. He might beat you up in the parking lot for it

Thanks for the advice.  I had an MBT on an AR pistol I built a while back and I learned the stock trigger leaves a lot to be desired but I left it in this rifle for originality.  It's so horrible I think I am going to replace it.  A Geiselle is just too damn high priced and I kind of like this Schmid trigger, but I need to research it some more for reliability.

Doubt I'll stay again.

As for the linked trigger group at Botach....pass. And fuck Botach.

I use the ALG QMS trigger and it's an improvement over the stock BCM trigger I had.

I went with the QMS because I didn't want a nickle boron trigger on my clone rifle.

That’s an awesome trigger.  This may be what I get instead, thanks for the info.

What year did the “CQD rear sling mount” come out? Would it be kosher for a sopmod block 1?

Not sure the year but seems like they are mostly on MK18 Mod0 and CQBR Block II rifles.

CAR stocks - any reason to avoid the $25 one that M&A Parts sells?

Other than finding a real fiberlite, would that one suffice?

I bought a new black M9 bayonet rig from Ontario Knife Company (OKC), a contractor for the military issued M9's, and got it today.  Fits right on the Colt SOCOM barrel with their pinned and welded flash hider.  I know bayonets aren't used too much today, as lots of surplus issue M9's are for sale on the internets, but I wanted the proper bayonet for the Block 1.  Trying to keep everything in black if possible.

Akshully, that's the "correct" direction normally, unless using the KAC rails then it's turned around so the swivel can fold flatter to let the rail cover off.  It is backwards on that weapon though.

I had mine backwards till I mounted an M203 under it. It gets in the way of the barrel release on the M203 unless it can fold forward

Not sure why they put it on the right side though

We were using the wire triangle sling loops, wrapped in 550 cord, that hooked through the FSB on our 203s in the late 90's.  82d, no SOPMOD for us.

Why does the TM show it on the right side?

Is the sling supposed to go around the front of the FSB?

I'm pretty sure a 2 year old draws all the pictures on TMs so there's that.

where do you get one of these sling mounts these days? Everywhere I find them listed has them out of stock. I'm not picky about it being an authentic colt either.

I just started my Block 1 build and need a lower.
I know NoDak Spud makes retro lowers but will they build a modern lower for an m4? As far as the markings and finish?

NoDak does A2 lowers but they don't do the markings.  You would need to send it out for that.  Their website has a few places they recommend for engraving.

PSA has M4A1 Government Property marked lowers.   No Colt symbols but the space is there to be engraved if you want.

TA01 is tritium only for illumination.  TA31 has tritium and fiber optic for illumination.  I'm not sure on the reticle offerings for each model.
