Think I'm gonna dump my ddm4v5 and start a M4 Socom build. Looking at my options it seems the 16 inch barrels are more available now. I want 14.5. One of my questions is if I pick up a 16 inch Colt Socom barrel, is it possible to have it cut down to 14.5? And if so is this the same as buying a 14.5? Would they be identical? I'm thinking it is not by some pics I have seen recently.... Or am I better off just picking up a 14.5?
Also, with the 14.5 I'm thinking of having it pinnied/welded with a SureFire SF3P-556 to meet the length/legal requirements. Does this sound like the way to go or are there better alternatives? Thx |

Or am I better off just picking up a 14.5? Yes you can get it chopped to 14.5. The difference will be the lack of 203 flats under the handguard. I would, and do, just pick up a Colt 14.5, save the 16's for 10.3 chops. Also, with the 14.5 I'm thinking of having it pinnied/welded with a SureFire SF3P-556 to meet the length/legal requirements. Does this sound like the way to go or are there better alternatives? Thx View Quote the only better alternative would be an SF4P, which is findable, just expensive. But a SF3P would suffice, or better yet the KAC NT4 flash hider with a spacer pinned/welded |

You'll also lose markings at the end of the barrel (Colt 1/7 etc). |
|
|
14.5" SOCOM's are readily available and cheap. There's a vendor on Gunbroker that regularly has them for $189 or so.

I got the block ii fever at this point and my question is would a 6920 be a good starting point? Besides barrel and the obvious others of course.

That's one of the best starting points there is. Just swap out the barrel for a colt 14.5 and throw on a ris ii. Squirrell- phase5supply on gunbroker |

Great question, I meant to ask the same... So the LE6920 is the Exact same lower??? Is the only difference the roll mark? This just might be the way to do it!!

As far as optic I see the ACOG TA01... IS the TA31 in there too as an option? |

The TA01NSN was the official model during the Block 1 of the SOPMOD program. While not apart of th SOPMOD the TA31 has been seen used by those using the M4A1 either purchased COTS or from the host service.

Sorry for posting this, as I'm sure it's been asked before and I don't know if this is even the proper place to post it. However, I couldn't find the answer using google or even the ARFCOM search function.
Why is the AAC 51T used so much for Block II clones? In the very first page, it does not appear as one of the "proper" muzzle devices yet, I've seen it used extensively. Is it because it resembles the surefire? Thanks and again, sorry! |
