I gotta admit, back when I did it, I was pretty darn nervous, but, It looks sooo good.  You can always strip it if you dont like it.  Or redo it.

Here's my contribution:

I got my Omega 300 stamp back and then put it together.  Still need an optic and a muzzle brake mount for the Omega.  My first AR.  Only took a year for me to buy up the parts and put it together.

Nice first AR.  You probably need to take a look at the first post to see what parts belong on the mk18 and CQBR clones.  Then start from there.

Yeah, I know it's not a clone or anything. I took inspiration from this thread though and it's how I decided on the MK18 upper.  I'm going to put a tan eotech exps3-0 on it.  I'll upgrade the BUIS in the future too and move the MBUS to my next gun.

I think it only applies to the ad itself, historically speaking.

Could an Aimpoint M4S be considered clone correct, or are the only correct optics the elcan/exps/553? If so, what would be the proper mount?

Reason being that I don't like the elcans enough to spend that kind of money on one and if I'm going to upgrade my XPS, then I'd fell better upgrading to an M4S rather than an EXPS. Aimpoints are generally bombproof and I've had an almost brand new EOtech fail just sitting in the safe (nitrogen purge loss and half the reticle disappeared).

Really?  I see a Glock and a M320 40mm GL under the arm.  Bolt is either traveling to the rear on the shot or bolt locked open on last round.  Guy behind him is armed with a underfolding AK and vehicle behind him is armed with a Mk19 Mod 3 40mm heavy machine gun.

The Aimpoint M4S is a standard US Army sight.  They can be found on Block IIs when teams are low on Eotech or other preferred optic.  Same way M9s or M17 can be found in team holsters instead of a Glock.  Mother Army stuff and SOF specific.

Honestly, never had to just replace the extractor.  Normally a new bolt assembly.  Fired about a thousand rounds out of the PKM.  Broke it down and metal is soaking in the solvent tank.  Had a case separation in the PKM after 200 rds.  Took barrel off, lock in vise (have a bench on the range inside a 20' container) and drove wooden dowel into chamber and pushed case out.  Then back to business.

I've never had to replace an extractor either that's where my curiosity came from lol, usually just a new bolt assembly.

Off topic, but what country is the PKM you are using from, we had the Cugir Mitraliera md. 66, Type 80, Russian of course, and Zastava M84/86. I also believe we had a Type 82 GPMG, but never actually saw it, cannot actually confirm, but was told we had it, but not on location where I was at.

Yes, one of the active groups here has replaced their M9s for M17s and they sit on the shelf as teams prefer their Glocks.  NG SF still have M9s and Glocks.  Support personal are glad to have wantever they get inside of carrying their M4.  More and more Army units are switching so about 50/50% between M9s/M17s now.

Comes with shims.  You don't have to use them if you're not going to run a suppressor.

Do plan on using a suppressor - an RC2 at some poitn, how many or what colored ones am I using.  Sorry for the stupid question, I figured they were only for the brakes/comps.

The colored shims depend on timing and lining up the FH.  Should be a booklet in with the 3P.

I guess my question is - lining up the flash hider is aesthetic since it should function the same at all rotation?

OR do I need to put one or two shims in with the flash hider so that it works correctly WITH a suppressor on the end of it?

Booklet makes about as much sense to me as a nun with tits

There is no set amount of shims. Each set up is different because each barrel is different. You use the shims to align the indexing notch for the suppressor at the 6 o'clock position. Again, if you're not running a suppressor, no need to worry about this - just torque it on to specified torque specs in booklet.
