I like your set up, man. Very similar to my own. I need to pick up a carry handle to cut like that, as well.

I dig the shit out of his setup too. I just chopped one a couple months ago with an angle grinder since my old dremel shit out. It was easier than expected tho. Just dont forget to smooth out the edges or it'll scrape anodizing off your T rail. (Oops)

Yeah, I just can't make myself buy a LMT rear, when I can pick up a carry handle for 30 bucks and accomplish the same goal, especially since it's not exactly rare to see a cut carry handle on a "real" rifle.

Kristen really hooked me up. I didn't want it sitting in limbo when I was away during the weekend and I paid a bit more to get it on Saturday. Completely worth paying the extra to me. Ive had too many items go missing with FEDEX/UPS over the years during the Christmas season. Wasn't letting it happen to this guy.

Its worth the wait after using it. I honestly thought I would be disappointed from the performance. I had a full power laser before purchasing this one. Its more powerful than my PEQ2a was on the low setting which is nice. The diffuser actually makes the IR laser useful for targeting without too much bloom of your NODs

I honestly thought I would regret getting rid of my full power for one of these sissy low power lasers. No regrets. Its plenty useful out to TNVCs advertised distances which is all I feel comfy engaging out in complete darkness using lasers

Straight up. I could never chop up a Colt carry handle so I chopped up my GMG carry handle (25-30 bucks IIRC) then touched up the raw aluminum and steel with black spray paint on the end of a q-tip. Matches perfect somehow

No irons are the right irons.

Glad to see the ATPIAL-C!  Hope I can get my hands on one eventually.  Looking forward to seeing everyone's "newly complete" builds in the coming months.

I hardly ever want to shoot during the day anymore, I love shooting IR!  There need to be some "in action" photographs and videos, and some "glamour shots!"

Hey Augee. You have IR lasers already don't you?

Just polling to see how everyone sights theirs in.

I need to find a decent way to mount my go pro for at night awesomeness

I had the VIS model (visible laser only) but I sold it on eBay the minute I found out about TNVC's offering.

Yeah, I've got some Alumablack that works well for refinishing small areas like that, if you do the proper prep work. As of now, I've been using a Matech rear  because I haven't got around to buying a carry handle, and the only one I have on hand is one of the shitty 'commercial' height ones.

On a different note, I noticed that my RAS is ever so slightly off center, earlier. Trying to track down the cause of it, strange.

Same here with the matech. I'm running an SU-231 on that upper and prefer to have a flip up rear BUIS behind an EOTech reticle. Ended up throwing the chopped BUIS on a beater upper for now until I get my mk 18 pistol's upper together (CA )

I've been thinking about trying out a magnifier, so I may leave the Matech on, for a while. I'm using a T1, now, so I don't honestly feel the need to have BUIS on it. I've got plans to put an EXPS on it, some day, and since it isn't a constant on set up like the T1, I kind of want a decent set of irons to back it up.

I had the same issue with a RAS being off center slightly, so I removed it and the gas tube backed the barrel nut just enough to center the RAS worked perfectly.

So, I had a "eh, fuck it" moment after talking to you earlier, and did this to that handle I had laying around. If it will sight in properly, cool, if not, I didn't lose anything.
Since the last picture I posted, I have been playing around with sticking a M300b on it. End goal is to add an ATPIAL-C and an EXPS3-0, I like the rifles that leaked out with block 2 stuff before the block 2 became common.

Since the last picture I posted, I have been playing around with sticking a M300b on it. End goal is to add an ATPIAL-C and an EXPS3-0, I like the rifles that leaked out with block 2 stuff before the block 2 became common.

Straight up. I could never chop up a Colt carry handle so I chopped up my GMG carry handle (25-30 bucks IIRC) then touched up the raw aluminum and steel with black spray paint on the end of a q-tip. Matches perfect somehow

Yeah, I've got some Alumablack that works well for refinishing small areas like that, if you do the proper prep work. As of now, I've been using a Matech rear  because I haven't got around to buying a carry handle, and the only one I have on hand is one of the shitty 'commercial' height ones.

I noticed that my RAS is ever so slightly off center, earlier. Trying to track down the cause of it.

Same here with the matech. I'm running an SU-231 on that upper and prefer to have a flip up rear BUIS behind an EOTech reticle. Ended up throwing the chopped BUIS on a beater upper for now until I get my mk 18 pistol's upper together (CA )

Looks good bro! Long as there's no excess metal on the bottom edge from cutting, and it locks down solid then she will sight right in. Wouldn't be surprised if your zero is the same as when it was a Carry handle

It's from the movie. I'm actually impressed they took the effort to get as close as they did. *shrug*

No, not bad for a movie "clone."

I mention that because it's a "commercial" carry handle, the pocket for the rear sight is milled a bit lower, because it's for non-F FSB on carbines. I loaded up some mags, going to give it a go after Christmas.

They made a carry handle for a non F marked FSB? That's a little derpish of the manufacturer considering everything that doesn't accept a carry handle (A1,A2,A3) are the only generations that use a non F marked. Things that make you go

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it was Bushmaster, did that because they wanted to use up a bunch of non-F FSBs, back in the day. It's a silly, halfass solution, but that's the gun world for you.

Here's a reference from a few years back on the issue. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_66/344624_Help_Identifying_my_front_iron_base___.html&page=1#i3118665

A minor bit of digging around on the internet suggests a few companies used such a set up.
