Im running the h1 super 42 in my 10.3, it is perfect 4 o clock ejection unsuppressed, but a little harsh suppressed. Next time I order from G im going to bump it up to an h2 which will probably be the sweet spot. And no, as far as I know the super 42 isnt being issued anywhere.

Could someone post a photo of their feedramps? I am experiencing issues when loading on an empty changer - the first cartridge gets hung up midway out of the magazine. Usually tapping the bottom of the mag closes the bold. After looking at a rifle, I noticed my feedramps looked as follows (not the pockmarking on the left feedramp):

Feedramps look pretty good to me. Have you tried a different lower and different mags?

Thank you for the photo. I tried different magazines (USGI) and even put in a new action spring with the same results. My concern is the pockmarking visible just below feedramp - I don't see anything like that on any other upper I have.

Are the little rounded white spots on the receiver right before the extention indentations in the receiver or is it light
Link Posted: 9/23/2019 10:19:24 PM EDT
[#11]
Looks like I was wrong - after another cleaning/chamber brush, the pockmarking looking area is gone - it was probably caked on carbon.
Here is a better photo: However, it still leaves the question: what could cause the issue of loading on an empty bolt using bolt release? This hasn't happened on any other AR (BCM, Colt, with the same lower).

Here is the rifle as configured:

Are there any marks on the gas key were it could be hitting the gas tube , can you feel any burrs on the feed ramps
Link Posted: 9/23/2019 10:38:45 PM EDT

Couldn't feel any burrs on the ramps. Will look into gaskey / tube more tomorrow.

@jdoc69

What ammo are you using?  Just had a standard M4A1 that didn't want to feed Mk262 off the right ramp.  Seems the receiver M4 feed ramp on the right side got a burr/gouge.  So, the BTHP nose was hanging up on that side when fired out of USGI mags.  No issue with MPags or ball ammo.  Solution was new receiver and barrel.  Gun goes out the wire so needed it to be 100% with any combination.

@combatdiver:
I think this is happening with ball ammo (don't recall the actual brand, not match HP).
I did examine feed ramps both in the upper receiver and barrel extension and they appear to be smooth.

@jdoc09
just curious, have you tried PMAGS?  although, yes, it should work flawlessly with USGI metal mags.  are they new USGI mags?

my theory is that the sharp metal mag feed lips are holding on to the cartridge to tightly, whereas a polymer mag feed lip will allow the cartridge to tip up as it gets levered up the feedramp.  just curious.

Another Geissele curiosity, this is Barry Dueck from Surefire, in the video he shows a carbine with a 11.5'' barrel, specifically calling it out, but please note that the MK16 rail has 5 slots instead of 4 MLOK slots on the side, and it appears to be a bit longer to mate up better with the barrel. @MNRidesHonda mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I believe it may have went unnoticed.

I wonder if Uncle Bill will allow us to buy these?

Looks like the MAWL just got adopted by the DOD.

Any idea how that will work with the URGI issues and if the units using them will be getting the MAWL?

Are the 10.3" URGI's going away? I saw that Brownells' had them as discontinued.

I heard a rumor that 11.5"s with a MK16 rail were being looked into. Will Bill sell a 10.5" MK16? All I know is that they haven't supported 11.5" and 12.5" barrel owners in the past (except the too short 10" MK4s).

If you look at the front of the rail in the picture, it doesn't have the larger area without picatinny slots or the ramp that's normally there.  This makes me think it was a one-off or custom chop.

That rail in the SF video looks just like the one that I’ve seen being tested

The barrel in that SF video though is a bit longer than on the test mule that I saw.

Edit to add: I’d stock up on Colt 11.5” barrels; just saying haha.

I was thinking about this after seeing your comments and then seeing the 10.3" URGI basically be discontinued. We also never really heard much about an official 10.3" variant for the .mil

Hopefully they've wised up and are going 11.5" now and we'll see a 11.5" URGI soon

The mawl wasnt the specific issue when the drop zero testing was brought up, it just happened to be the laser that they had on while dropping and testing. Could hapeen with any laser device that is attached to the rail. If said issues were true.

Looks like the test sample rails that were provided by geissele. On the OG short rails you could see the barrel nut through the extra mlok slot.
But if that is a 11.5 barrel then that rail is definitely longer.
