I always think the same. The CTR looks great on an URGI but then I use one of my CTRs and remember why it's not on my URGI

Is there a single URG-I component on that upper?

I'm actually liking it quite a bit, it's my first real variable of its type. It's got the horseshoe reticle so its pretty easy and intuitive to use. Not cheap, but was cheaper than my Elcan SpectreDR. I just need to find a good range where I can stretch it out to its full capabilities

I’m just curious, is there any 100% proof that the URGI is being issued and used in combat? Or at least the 14.5” CHF with Midlength gas?

Based on the Crane test, it seems to me like the increased reliability and durability of the barrel and gas system would be foolish to discard because of the rail, especially because they could just replace the MK16 rails with stronger predecessors. Unless they found out something negative about the Midlength gas system that didn’t manifest in the Crane test?

USASOC is issuing them now.

The midlength barrel isn't really compatible with the RIS II. It can work but isn't designed for it.

Does the upper from Brownells come with the Super 42 buffer & spring? Not bad at $869 plus another 8% with AJ discount.
G has them for $999 plus you get a SSA & Super 42 with H3 buffer. Which is a better buy?

Not sure my 14.5” clone was bought direct from G a while ago so this is my first URGI from Brownells. Got the AJ confirmation and for $800 to my door either way I’m happy with it.

As to which is a better buy guess that depends but prob pretty close if you include the other stuff. I have a pistol lower already built just sitting in my safe so I didn’t need anything else anyway.

Edit: one of the Q&A questions on B’s site says it does come with the super 42 and buffer.

There’s a couple with MK16 rails.

The biggest badass is the older guy in the center of the pic with no headgear and the old M4 in his left hand.

Yep - when he became a GO he officially had his “unit” issued 1911 registered as his GO sidearm.

Assuming everyone got the email about full URGI guns from G$ - looks like a pretty decent price to me.

EDIT: and by decent price I meant the $500 off they had over labor day...

Not a clone, but has a 9.3" rail and NSN ACH, which does suck with a suppressor.

The flash hider is a weird choice. Pretty sure the 215A is for the older Legacy suppressors.

Yeah, saw that. My guess is that since SF doesn't have the SF4P listed on their website, someone at Geissele didn't know what to call it and picked the name of the only 4-prong flash hider that is visible on SF's website, thinking it was close enough. Would be really strange for the only company with a line on civi sales of SF4P's to suddenly drop them for an outdated design. Or I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

The point of the 4 prong was to be clone correct. Since these are not clone correct it would not surprise me if the description was correct.

The last time I ordered it was like 3 weeks before it shipped... and that was not during a holiday sale. It’s to the point that I basically won’t buy from them. Nothing “in stock” should take more than a day or so to ship.

That said, my Black Friday (2018) order came in less than a week.
