They’ve been having manufacturing issues with the anodizing apparently. Or delays at least… but they’ll be back. That’s what I was told by MSP

Aero Kodiak Brown lower in the house. A couple of tiny blems, but no big deal.. Pics to follow when I get time. Looks great out in the sun, have yet to get it close to my G DDC rail to see how it matches.
All in all, I'm happy with it. I'm sure it'll become a unicorn like their ODG ano stuff now is.. Carry on |

Prob the same shade as their fixed irons, you can see examples on the previous page of this thread. Can't help with the hinge breaking though, hopefully it's not the case. I picked my Kodiak Brown lower today from the FFL, and noticed it was darker than the uppers I received last week.
Got it home and snapped a few pictures of it with the Kodiak Brown upper.  It’s much closer to the Daniel Defense FDE than Geissele DDC.  Now I need to decide which lower to use… First pic is the Tano Aero lower, second is the Kodiak Brown.   I think I know which one I’ll go with but would like opinions. |

 Seriously, the Aero Tanno is a bit light in color, I like the darker Kodiak for that build. I got mine last week, it's almost complete. Black Friday deals to get a few bits to finish.. good timing! Pics to follow. Mine is dark too, but I didn't get an upper to compare. Like they say, 500 shades.. Carry on |

Under LED lighting, but gives you some idea. I'm trying to build this out with existing parts, hence the raw titanium TD/Pivot V7 pins. What ever, they work.
New CMMG bolt catch & ambi mag release. I like them! Price was right for sure. Geissele DDC tube & Fortis K2 ratcheting castle nut / end plate system on the way. I usually go PWS, thought I'd try something a bit different. Also have a new Magpul K2-XL FDE pistol grip on the way. Pictured with an ODG K2 grip, and 20 round PMAG that was Cerakoted FDE for reference.

The DD barrel got back from ADCO today (14.5 p/w) so I was finally able to get this gun together.
I ended up using very little from my original Tano Aero set, and both upper and lower on this rifle are Kodiak Brown. I feel like this is a significant step up from my earlier build.   Speaking of my other tano gun…  Thanks to a Black Friday deal it’s now a can cannon host :) |

Looks fantastic Goody, love it. Seems like the RE (buffer tube) matches quite well. My Black Friday G DDC tube ships out today. Who knows what color that will actually be..

Speaking of Geissele, the 10.5" MK8 I got on BF (not blemula) has a much better finish than the 9.5" MK4 I bought this past spring. I like that it's almost a rose gold. The mk4 looks like it was straight up cerakoted matte FDE.
 ETA: The MK4  The MK8  Comparison  I took the installed pictures at very different times of the day. The comparison pic is the best for gauging the difference. |

It's funny you brought this up, I've got something similar to your stuff. I've got a 7" MK4 rail bought years ago.. looks almost Cerakote and very dull. Still a nice rail but not the norm.. My 9.5" MK8 on the other hand is no doubt anodized, and looks much better. Not quite the "rose gold" you've got, but it's still a good look. Keeper for sure. Needless to say, G's anodized DDC is ALL OVER THE PLACE in color and finish over the years. No big deal for me, just an observation. Edit: And truth be told, I'm an MK8 fan for sure. Might have to add that color into the mix someday…somewhere  You’re right, Geissele is pretty random when it comes to finishes. I had a ddc mk14 and an ALG V1 in the past and really liked the finishes on those. I also have an early MK2 that’s dark reddish brown. I wish they’d bring that shade back. Like you said, it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day; it’s just aesthetics, then again this is a thread purely based on aesthetics lol |

Got an email from Aero today about a sale on the Kodiak stuff.
Therefore, I had no choice but to pick up a receiver set. Stoked to see how it jives with my RIS II. The FDE upper just doesn't sit right with it. |

Just put together this 14.5" with Aero kodiak brown parts and a G MK16 in DDC. The rail is darker than my other rails in DDC. Matches the kodiak nicely.

How does it compare in weight against the RIS II? How about strength? I noticed your MK16 what are your thought against it as far as weight, slimness and rigidity? I’ve got a couple II’s and they can’t really be beat for strength, but that comes at a cost of weight. I like the MK16’s and have a few of them, I like how light and slim they are, but know they won’t take the abuse, hard use a II will take. |
