The "Raptor" version was touted in 308, which will hopefully be posted soon as well. Which means they should be producing at least some longer 308 barrels for conversion.

I'll be saving up for the standard variant or Raptor version myself. These first runs will more than likely sell out before I'll even see one.

I'm seeing all brass .277 in the Sig store. That's a brilliant move in my opinion to depress prices at first. Assuming it stays available, it makes a 7.62 or 6.5Jesus barrel less required for shooting fun.

Still $1.70 a round, but that's not awful in today's clown world.

Sig Fury ammo will be available on the 24th. At $4 per round, it is a bit more than I had thought it might cost.

So the picture appears to have a third hole above the safety selector. Where is a pic of the actual civilian version?

I will wait for the generation 2 after Sig works out the kinks with the guinea pigs jumping on the Gen 1.

Maybe Coregon can confirm, but Osage was saying there's only 30 of these being released, so yeah I'd say it's going to be a very good investment for whoever manages to snag one.

If the regular version ends up being around SCAR 17 money or less I'll definitely get one in the 277 Fury chambering.

A number wont be confirmed by me.  However, any dealer telling you a number, has been made up, because they weren't given a number, either.

I spent the better part of today calling dealers throughout Ohio and none are being allocated any of these. Alas I don't have any industry connections so I wasn't going to be one of the few able to purchase this. My guess is that we will see a few popup on Gunbroker for the $20k range or so.
I think it's safe to say that this initial run is indeed a very small number likely to build up some hype around the product for a full launch later this year or next. I would however like to commend SIG for keeping true to the Spear and releasing this as a factory SBR, in the .277 Fury chambering and also offering the suppressor. It could have easily been released as a 16 inch .308, completely missing the point of what this intended to be. It's a fun/cool package no doubt.

Hopefully a somewhat similar variant will be made available later this year, although with rampant inflation we may all end up paying the same $7,999.99 anyway, if not more . As others have noted I'm sure there will be a few kinks that the high volume, serious shooters will notice and hopefully SIG is responsive to any changes required. As much as I'd love to own one of the initial models, at the same time I'm happy to let the rich kids beta test it.

If anyone in the thread is lucky enough to grab one, please post some pics and share your experiences.

Does the federal government technically own 6.8x51?  Proprietary government caliber?   Is Sig selling the.277 because they have to make a tiny change to the 6.8x51 cartridge so they can slip under the gov patent?

I didn't call anyone and I no longer have any social media sites, so I'm guessing that I won't find one.  But if someone sees one for less than or around $10k, please let me know.

I second BigBurkeyBoy's thoughts. To be honest this release is a real collector's item & I wouldn't be comfortable knocking around out in the desert with it like I would a "normal" one. Let's just hope the standard issue releases soon and is not another six+ months away, this has gone on long enough, it's just tiresome at this point
If it gets listed at shops for 5k or something I will just pass, at $4/rd for Fury plus the unobtanium barrel kits (I have looked for an 11.5" mcx barrel for ages, which is now msrp at $700, please), it would just start to feel goofy paying so much for a wallhanger with unavail ammo & AWOL caliber kits
Has Sig released any official reloading info/supplies? May have missed it

Well it is pretty much a Spear but with more compact 8” barrel designed like the 5.56 Rattler.

Even worse when the don't make generational changes just incremental so you don't know what parts/fixed you have or are getting when you buy

People keep saying they'll wait for Gen2, without realizing this is already 8 years old at least.

This was based on the MCX-MR trials gun for the CSASS program, evolved into the NGSW-R.

Don’t care. I will still wait for kinks to be worked work out. Was never an earlier adopter of the P320, P365, MPX or MCX. I’ll wait for the Gen 2.

ETA 17JAN:  I'm not sure what I was trying to say above.  .  I think I meant "WHAT Sig changed" from the CSASS/MCX-MR.

I don't see CZ releasing the Bren 2 BR anytime soon.  They're very mull on it and the x39 platform is already fucked up and needs fixing.

Now watch me eat my words and they announce the BR at Shot Show.

I’m interested to see what potential 277 Fury has as a short action magnum cartridge given the initial energy numbers.

ATF seems to be dragging their feet. In October, it took weeks for them to approve the transfer of a titanium Sig can to my FFL. Can only imagine how long it'll take for them to get my damned form 4 approved.

@coregon Will the SLX68-MG-QD be sold separately?
