That wouldn't be an authentic brake you got from Ron and installed on a FDE 223 barreled bolt action, would it?

You’re looking for M24, bull sporter, and heavy Palma type barrels to have enough meat to do a collarless profile on a barrel.

Is there an identifiable trait or measurement to identify a ChiCom AEMB copy? I am not worried about my AEMB brakes. I either sourced them from Capitol Armory or directly from “the man” himself Ron Allen.

Sorry my man.  I think your gonna be disappointed if you wanted a taper machined directly onto the barrel profile with no additional collar.

Ruger American 5.56 barrel at approx 2.7 inches behind the muzzle is just shy of 0.70 inches at my favorite # of 0.69.

Not trying to be like @outrider with a custom 223 bolt gun toy

Ron: is there a specific minimum barrel diameter you’d recommend?

I have a spare 700 receiver on the shelf. I'd like to do a remage 12" 6.5G for my m24 can but don't feel like doing a form 1.

Maybe I'll just grab a bighorn action, maybe I'll just go with 16", but I'll get around to it eventually.

I was very happy with the Bighorn Origin action. Having prefit barrels makes it a breeze too to not fiddle with barrel nut timing/headspacing.

Anyone own the trifecta- aem5, Gordon and m24? I hope to own all 3 someday. Have the aem5 already, started picking up small parts for a Gordon build, and been itching for a m24a2 as I love cloning but getting board with the ar platform. Hoping to maybe pick up something out of the next batches that come out.

I’m curious how the sound comparison is between the three, obviously a lot of variables being the barrel lengths, bolt to semi and 5.56 to 7.62.

Hopefully in the next 4 months I'll have 2 of the 3. I agree about expanding into more then just ARs. I need to learn more about this m24 I think

I've got a .264LBC (6.5 Grendel) bolt gun in process. Much more pleasant to shoot than an AR version.

I shoot my .22’s more than anything else by a landslide but still continue to collect clone stuff. I shoot my mk12.1 every once in a while just because I love shooting with the suppressor. I’d imagine a bolt gun would be pretty sweet. I’ve kicked around the idea of a .223 700 for my aem5 but would rather just build a m24a2. I’d already have parts for it if money wasn’t so tight lately.

Is Ron still making custom collars? I have no desire to profile a bolt gun to a skinny SPR profile and my .223 isn’t fat enough for the 0.92” tapered shoulder.

So... What's the issue? I just had a defiance action with a 223 barrel on it currently, profiled for one of my AEM5.

Cost is kinda minimal and like someone else said a bolt 223 with Ron's can is exquisite.

All you have to do is turn the barrel down just enough to create a shoulder for a collar. Measure your barrel at 3.02 behind the muzzle and I can make you a collar that's .010 smaller. Just take a small clearance cut 2.53" back and then machine the area between 2.53 and 3.02 to the size of the collar ID. (for an AEM5).

Ron has made me a collar and Adco just chopped, threaded, contoured and made a collar for another build.

.749 is a little small for my taste on a bolt gun.

It’s about .86”, but it’s some kind of taper profile.

You got a print or can you pass on what machining needs to be done to accommodate this collar? My barrel is AT the smith right now I may be able to add the machining to the order.

Looking to start a bolt gun with a m24 suppressor when the next batch is ready. What kind of barrels are you guys using that’s thick enough to be contoured for the can? What’s the minimum diameter the barrel needs to be to be contoured and still have enough meat on the bone? Brand new to these bolt guns so any help or direction would be much appreciated.

an extra 2" of reflex for the m24 can
depends on how long of a barrel you want for how heavy of a contour you will need

Bartlein Heavy Palma or any Target/Straight Taper contour other than #5 gets you the ~0.920” after the 20 degree taper.

Yeah, you will need a pretty heavy contour to run it at 24"

M24 contour will obviously work as well

@goloud What exactly are you looking for? A Bartlein M24 blank in .30 cal will not be hard to find: http://www.bugholes.com/product-p/x-30cal-10tw-ss-m24-27.htm, https://www.bulletcentral.com/product/bartlein-barrel-ss-308-cal-b14-m24-10-twist-29-blank-5r/

You'll need to send your action and the blank to a smith if you're working off a factory R700 action.

From this last weekend:

4 5-shot groups letting the rifle cool for a few minutes and taking the can off and putting it back on in between each string. It sounds too good suppressed I didn't shoot any without the can to see what the POI shift was with vs. w/o

That barrel is only .900 @ 26" continued taper but says it’s a m24 barrel…I’m confused. Shouldn’t it be at least .920 if it were a m24 barrel?

I think it tapers down to .900 at 26”. So cutting it at 18-22” will be at least .920”.
