That rifle, and especially that stock is beautiful! I would have a lot of pride of ownership if that was mine. Well done. |

So I have been lurking over here again, checking out the stock modifications. After deciding on what I wanted on a sling setup, and discussing some modifications with a few members here, I purchased some parts and made some modifications.
Here is my SOCOM 16 with a few Sling QD attachment points added. These are the Uncle Mikes QD Sling attachment sets, which seem to work very well. I measured the stock and the points I wanted to place them on, made sure there was no mechanical interference, and drilled out the holes with at 3/8 drill bit. The mounts are 1/2 inch, but I wanted a snug fit, so I drilled them out small, and then sanded down the opening to exactly the right size. These mounts have an opening in the rear that allows for a flat head screw to go nicely through. I then went to the hardware store, and purchased some machine screws, nuts, and a screw connector. Since I am left handed, I wanted to make sling points on both sides of the weapon, so it can be used ambidextrously. The mounts at both locations are connected internally, which provides for added strength. The screws were bolted to the QD mounts, then attach inside to the screw connector, so it is one solid unit all the way through. I then used adhesive and coated all the internal locations, and bolted all of it together. Thanks to Heavily_Armed for the great information and photos of his project. (Back a few pages) My next plan is to mount an AFG to the underside of the stock. So a 1913 rail will go on the bottom of the stock, and I think that will be all the mods done to this stock. |

They had three all with $39.95 stickers on them an all three were near black they were so oily and grimy but I spied the stripes on this one thru the crud and I guess I was inspecting them for too long so he said $30 OTD trying to make a sell but I was already sold I just put some elbow grease into it with a denatured alcohol soaked rag. Some little critter had even made the stock it's home |
