Your kit is impressive, no doubting that, but what exactly is it you do that you are so worried about taking friendly fire from an airborne asset? Curious...considering I fly those airborne assets and have never seen a TACP, JTAC, PJ, CRO/STO or anyone else with as much IR as you have. |

When you wear that much it actually is seen by the enemy at night as it is highly reflective of moon light (there is actual AARs that say that they can see the reflection of the patches) . Also as most who are gone to school to be JTAC and AC130 qualed you learn that more than a small square on top of you helmet is counter-productive. Not sure if the Afghans do it, but the Insurgents in Iraq developed means to mimic the IR tags, it was not as effective but effective enough to cause gunship to hold fire on several occasions. The best solution is an IR strobe, because it is active and works with anyone using NODs not just while getting burned. |

I LOVE Christmas to myself! Look what came in to work for me today: http://i55.tinypic.com/2ch2avq.jpg Had some nice toys inside: http://i55.tinypic.com/28wj514.jpg (have to rotate image - should have done before posted. will edit when I get around to it) What this is going to replace: http://i55.tinypic.com/2146n91.jpg Starting on it: http://i54.tinypic.com/15xmgwm.jpg And after adding some more MOLLE pouches and some ALICE pouches from the LBE: http://i53.tinypic.com/4rq3nk.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/fz2qs0.jpg As this is my first MOLLE set up of any kind (most advanced piece of LBE I had when in was a prototype enhanced LBV), what suggestions do you guys have for what to add to it to round it all out? Since this if your first MOLLE Chest rig like the SDS RACK - try on a heavier pack with frame & waist belt - adjust it to fit your hips well to transfer the load. You'll find the weight of the chest rig to help counter-balance the load in your pack much better, you can stand much more upright, and your center of gravity will be improved as well. Having the pack weight transferred to your hips will make it much more comfortable. A Large ALICE with frame & QD shoulder straps should work quite well with that setup. Still have my large ALICE up in the attic. That's my next project - I am thinking about doing the Hellcat mods listed in the ALICE gear thread. Been walking around in the house with this set up on, and made some changes already: http://i55.tinypic.com/rir9mw.jpg http://i51.tinypic.com/2z99tlk.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/2lwu4j9.jpg I went with the 3 x 3 mag pouch suggestion, moved my field dressings to the front (until I get a proper FAK), and added my knife behind my GP pouch. I also added a bunch of little things - compasses, fire starting kit, spare glasses, chapstick, 550 cord, to the pockets on the canteen pouches, moved my flashlight, and added some earplugs. I like the idea of putting a GP pouch in the top center, but am also playing with idea of putting a holster there for my G19. Or I may put it in that open space by the zipper on my right side. This is FUN!!!!!! Dude... You MIGHT want to recheck your tinyurl pics... Um, yeah! |
