Gotcha, thanks!  Does a drop down holster tend to bounce more?

Not in my experience; it's largely dependent on how stable the 1st line belt is.

Played around with a set-up which I will run at the house carbine in 2 weeks. Even with this config, I see no reason why the combo of the emdom cm and the DownRangeGear PALS could not handle it comfortably. If you guys need any more/other pix, just holler.

Specs:
Emdom MM CM
Emdom MM CM pads
DownRangeGear PALS platforms
HSGI pistol tacos
HSGI rifle tacos
ITS Tallboy IFAK w/ molle stix
Gcode RTI belt platform
Safariland 6354DO w/ Gcode RTI hanger.

I knew I would be doing a lot of walking around the ranch this week trying to scare some hogs up from their hides so I tried to slim down my war belt and man do I love it, I don't think I will ever go back to the full thing. I went from

Here's mine.  We monitored this thread for awhile now and ended up with the same configuration except she went with HSGI and I went with ITW.

Much of my stuff is in the mail, but my set-up will be similar to Budmax18's.

Emdom-MM CM belt & pads

2x pistol Tacos

2x rifle Tacos

HSGI bleeder

kydex holster

Pics to follow within the next week or so, whenever I get everything pieced together.

I'll use the Down Range Gear PALS panels.  Pretty much the only difference between my belt and his is the medical pouches we've chosen

Stupid me.  Here I am trying to reinvent the wheel when I had everything just "laying around".

I've been debating between a basic riggers style belt and a full war belt.  Riggers being that its simpler and more easy to stow-n-go.  A true war belt obviously gives you more real estate with PALS setups but is more bulky.

Anyways, as I've been beating myself up on what to do, looking at my bank accounts and looking at this thread, it dawned on me that I basically had everything that I needed.  I already had a new surplus USGI ALICE belt which I had already setup with my USAF survival knife and fire starter kit (which is a WWII 1911 mag pouch containing a pill bottle with vaseline cottonballs and a magnesium firestarter).  All I added was my SERPA holster  and the mag pouch.  I do have an IFAK but that stays in the truck which can easily be added if necessary.  There's also enough belt space left to add a 2 quart canteen and compass (both ALICE clip equipped).  It's simple, lightweight and I do have the suspenders (not shown) if needed but I don't thing that I do.  Plus, if I ever decide on going the full war belt route, I can use the same belt.

Yes, I know its not Tier 1, high speed/low drag but it cost me nothing and fills a void that I've had in my setup.

Nice.

I have a MOLLE belt and chest rig, but I'm still hanging on to my ALICE kit for a backup or a loaner. Plus, selling it's not going to get me jack shit for it.

I have a lack of knowledge when it comes to belts and need some guidance on setting one up.....

I have a Crye JPC that is my go to for the bulk of mags, med pouch, etc.

I want something light and simple, just a Kydex pistol holster and a couple of mag pouches, combo of 1 or 2 pistol and/or 1 or 2 AR mags, probably a maximum of 2 mags at once.

This is what I am thinking of starting with....

HSGI COBRA Riggers Belt with a Kydex pistol holster and a couple of mag pouches,  combo of 1 or 2 pistol and/or 1 or 2 AR mags.  maximum 2 mags at once.

Thoughts, Opinions?

Would I be better off running a padded battle belt?  If so, Why?

Also, if anyone has pics of a similar setup, I greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Just a quick report back. This past weekend at carbine house on TD1 wore the Emdom set up from 8am-1215am (yes AM) with the exception of 1hr each at lunch and dinner. TD2 from 830am-5pm. Worked out great. No issues, solid and great set up for me. For those on the fence about getting a lower profile belt set up, I def encourage you to check out the Emdom with pads and the DRG PALS for any pouches. T-up from me. Cheers!

C-1 convinced me to join the battle belt bandwagon (part of the posts that were recently cleaned up in here). I ordered a TAG padded MOLLE belt. If I like it I may upgrade to a better one later, but this was the most affordable quality belt I could find to test the waters, and I didn't need a huge rig since I don't have much hanging from it anyways. The most I will have to do to adapt is switch the belt slide on my holster for a PALS adapter and add MALICE clips to my Maxpedition dump pouch. The main draw that got me to switch from just a 5.11 operator's belt is the speed of donning/doffing, no need to cinch it or run it through belt loops. I'm anxious to see how it works for me.

Our school is rather unorthodoxed.

I guess I just assumed it was normal to use that as cover.

They help a little but I'm going to start looking at other options.  Unfortunately I'm such a lard ass I need one as big as I can get.

Well, here it is

Emdom-MM CM belt & pads

2x pistol Tacos

2x rifle Tacos

HSGI bleeder

kydex holster - Glock 19 w/ Insight WX150

Down Range Gear PALS panels
Inside the HSGI bleeder I've got a 4" Olaes bandage, Celox gauze, H&H gauze, with shears and a CAT on the outside.  Holy shit it's a tight fit

I've been messing around with it for the last couple of weeks and I like it.  The most action it's seen is me rolling around in the yard acting like a fool, much to my neighbors' chagrin.

If you think mounting Tacos to regular MOLLE is a task, wait until you try the Down Range Gear PALS panels.

awesome mate!

You had problems with weaving the tacos thru the PALS? I found it so much easier..LOL...

At the house the Belt was loaded down with 2 rifle tacos, 4 pistol tacos, bfg dump pouch, ifak, and Safariland 6354DO with G17. no issues at all. Really like the molle stix for the ifak as well.

I think the MALICE Clip Belt Stabilizers would have probably been easier.

I was looking to put together a belt setup and was starting with nothing.  I am trying to get an idea of who makes quality pieces/rankings of the makers of the equipment, as I have no experience with any of them.  I would rather pay a little extra now and get a quality piece of gear that will last me a lifetime, then buy over and over.

I only have 5 pages in so far but have looked on other sites and see:  HSGI, ATS, Blackhawk, Viking Tactical, Tactical Tailor, Blue Force, and others.

How would you rank the quality of the gear manufacturers (what's best to worst) for the inner belt, outer "war" belt, and suspenders?  Add in any that I messed also please.

Wow oh wow. Bear wih me, I'm on the interstate.
BFG, HSGI, Emdom, Crye or Vtac warbelt. Find an inner belt wih a cobra or raptor buckle. Mag pouches should be TACOs, esstac kywi's or fast mags. I like HSGI bleeders or dark angel ifaks. Suspenders defeat the point

This is the kit I've been playing with recently. I haven't done any serious training in it yet but I am happy thus far based on a few drills with a friend. This is my first war belt and also my first micro rig so go easy on me.

-Shellback Stacker chest rig with a 6x8" AR500 plate
-Two TAG double pistol pouches with a Maratac AA flashlight, Leatherman Sidekick and two pistol mags
-HSGI Bleeder with QuikClot, Emdom shears, compressed gauze, Izzy, oral IVs, two chem lights, Grimlocks, nitrile gloves and a TK4
-TAG Hydration System with a home-made shoulder strap system to interface with the chest rig, Tactical Tailor shoulder pads, 3L Voodoo bladder that sucks ass (replacing with a Source WXP 3L ASAP), shock cord system (not shown) and a Tactical Tailor 1H pouch (not shown)
-TAG padded belt with Tactical Tailor rifle mag pouch, Maxpedition dump pouch, Glock field knife, and Blackhawk CQC holster & platform

I'm clumsy with the elastic retention bands on the Shellback rig right now. The elastic is super tight so inserting mags is a pain in the ass and removing them isn't graceful yet either. I'm putting ranger plates on my mags to help with that, and I'm once they're worn in a little it won't be so bad.
