Sergio Romo was pretty livid about being checked by the umps yesterday:
Look, here's the solution. Have the umps check the pitchers and catchers at the beginning of the game (or when they come out of the bullpen). Between innings, they get to sit in a special ump controlled area that has been inspected before the game. Pitchers can talk to coaches, whoever over closed circuit phones. Mound visits have an ump with them watching for anyone giving something to the catcher or pitcher. Problem solved, problem staying solved. |
